I also applied to Utica ( Florida location though) I got accepted to duke but a 6 figure loan is not it. I also applied to george washington and pace university. I wonder when we are going to hear back its been forever honestly and this thread is eerily silent

May I ask will you consider Duke SON? I am in the same boots as you. I don't know which to choose?

Hi guys,
May I ask you a question? I was accepted both by Duke and UofR. Duke has a better ranking in nursing than UofR. But UofR has a shorter program. Ignore the tuition differences (both are expensive). Could you give me some advice? Thank you!

What are soem factors that matter to you? its the best way to make a pros and cons list. location, rent cost ( u of r is good but its gonna be expensive to live in the area, durham is cheaper), demographics, etc. If you already put your deposit down for Duke then I highly suggest going there ? $500 is a lot of money, esp when it goes towards your tuition. what do you think?

Hello, thank you for your kind reply. My concern is that will a higher ranking program helps me get a better job? I am planning to study further in a DNP program. Will a higher rank program better serves me to achieve that goal?

yea I definitely see where you are coming from. When it comes to higher nursing professions such as an NP degree, the only way you can make it to the top of the ladder is by doing things that people don't normally do.  and going to Duke is a great example of that. it's a top-ranked school. (number one to be exact when it comes to nursing) Doctors are going to be the one looking at your resume when you are applying for your DNP jobs. you WANT them to see a name like Duke because it will get their attention right away, and that's what you need so you can be selective and choosey when picking your first NP job. @JessieS

Haha, Good guess:). It tortured me a lot to choose the program. But almost all my friends in the nursing field said both these two programs are good,  it is better to choose the cheaper and faster one. So I am confused. If you were I, which one would you choose?

girl if I were you I'm going with Duke. they have nurse loan repayment if you work at their hospital, they have tuition reimbursement up to 70% if u also work their hospital and you want to further your education at Duke University while working at Duke hospital! yea their nurse pay sucks but nothing beats getting your masters at a discounted rate! especially from a top school in the nation

Thank you so much! I will consider your suggestion seriously.

Has anyone heard back from the school yet for next steps or financial aid? Additionally, is there a facebook group for this cohort by any chance?

Hope everyone is doing well!

Haven’t heard anything regarding financial aid or next steps. I don’t think there’s a facebook group yet but someone should create one!
