Nursing Students SRNA

Hello all! Creating a new thread for the 2021 cycle. I applied and interviewed last year and Pitt is my dream school. Looking forward to meeting you all. Last year I got a call from admissions in February about and interview in March and I imagine that they'll follow a similar timeline.

I just got a call too! Looking forward to meeting everyone

Congratulations to those who have already been accepted!

To anyone else who was supposed to interview on March 16, have you received info about the teleconference interview? I emailed earlier this week to follow-up but haven't gotten a response yet. Dr O'Donnell said they'd survey for an acceptable time and date, but I haven't gotten anything about that, either, and it's been a month. Have they sent it already and I was somehow missed?

Did you hear back? I’ve read the second round of interviewees are hearing about acceptances last week and this week.

Yes! I've been accepted. It's taking a while to sink in LOL

Hello everyone,

I applied as well but I did not submit any GRE scores because my test date was cancelled because of COVID-19. Has anyone else applied without the GRE?

Without GRE scores, you most likely will not get an interview. They are extremely strict about that requirement and the scores being above 50th percentile in each category.

The GRE is a requirement and since they are allowing people to take the GRE at home now, I do not think this requirement is being waved. I am not sure of the application deadline but if it has not passed and you are able to take it, I would recommend trying to.

CONGRATS to everyone who has been accepted!

I am looking to apply for 2022-would anyone mind sharing their stats? I have an overall 3.2 GPA, 3 years RN experience (1.5 years CVICU), and should have my CCRN/GRE completed by the end of this year.

Sure. I scoured these threads looking for stats when I was getting ready to apply, too. Hope this helps!

4.0 Accelerated BSN GPA but only a 3.2 in my first degree (biology). Digging a bit deeper it's a complicated story - I had lots of A's... and lots of I's/W's. Not sure how much that factored in to their decision

330 composite GRE (170 verbal / 160 quantitative / 5.0 writing)

Currently only about 10 months of nursing experience... 8 months in a neurosurgical ICU at a level one trauma and the last few months in a CVICU. We do open heart recovery with ECMO, LVADs, IABPs, Impellas, and heart and lung transplants. We also run CRRT. My experience is definitely my weak point but in the interview I talked about how much I study at home and how motivated I am to learn every shift.

I don't have my CCRN yet because I don't have the required hours, but I made sure they knew I'm already studying for it.

I also have research experience both from my first degree and current as part of my nurse residency program. I have shadowed a CRNA five times. In nursing school I was elected to my state's board of nursing students. Not sure how much stuff like that mattered to my application, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

Best of luck to you!

Did anyone interview with the last round and hear anything yet?
