Members are discussing the number of seats offered in a program, with some confusion about the exact number of full-time and part-time spots available. There is also debate about the fairness of offering acceptances early in the interview process and concerns about the scoring system. Additionally, members are inquiring about additional interview dates and waiting for acceptance notifications by the end of the month.
Hi all, just submitted my app on 11/10 and attended a zoom information session last night. Good luck everyone!
Hannaheas said:When I interviewed a few weeks ago they said it's holistic. They have your app score so now your interview gets calculated into that and they decide from there. He said they take in account everything from grades to your letters of recommendation.
Thanks for adding that

For what, King? Decisions will go out before July 15, those are the only dates given.
Hi all, I am a current student at Pitt. While I don't have any information for you regarding acceptances etc. I wanted to share the link to our merch store so you guys can start representing as soon as you get the good news. All profits go towards our graduation. Tons of shirts, stickers, pins, and magnets that are pitt/anesthesia related with free shipping. Good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing some of you soon
Ketamean said:Yeah just got done with the interview. They sent about 25 offers already and are calculating everyone now to fill the rest(around 60 full time and 20 part time) they said they interviewed 180 peeps.
With "part-time”(which is pretty much their wait list since they don't have a wait list)they said last cycle 18 of those were offered full time before the class started.
How they compare is pretty much putting scores to your application, with added parts from each interviewers sheets, running the numbers and going from top to bottom. Dunno if holistic stuff calculates into it.
If I missed anything feel free to add, I'm still tweaking from the interview.
Oh yeah, same as the email sent way back when, should hear back before July 15th.
Does anyone know if Pitt adds to the part time list for those who move up to full time status? Say for example, like mentioned above 18 went full time before class began, do they take the next 18 and put them on the part time list or do they just leave it as is and only keep 2 people on the part time list?

I asked this and O'Donnell said no.

I noticed that as well. So confusing as to how all of this works LOL. I need them to hurry up already

Just to clarify—it's not that individual people "move up" from part-time to full-time at random. At Pitt, everyone accepted into the part-time track automatically transitions into full-time the following year as part of the program design. It's not a flexible or optional switch, it's just how their part-time structure is set up. So they wouldn't be pulling new people into the part-time list to replace anyone, because no one is vacating a spot—they're all expected to move forward together. Hope that helps!

I don't think that is entirely accurate. From what I understand, people in full time(before Jan) can request to be put on part-time and people in part time can move up to full time(pending someone turns down the offer from Pitt). Dean said last year only 2 of the original 20 stayed part time.
That's funny about people who were denied being offered a slot, especially since they reiterated they have no wait list, and with such a large class I foresee some interesting things happening! Excitement all around though.

If this is true it was definitely not mentioned in their info session or their interview.

Thank you and I'm sure you did great! Did they say when we would start hearing back? The last emailed update said by July 15, but was wondering if they said anything else - the waiting is killing me!
