What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the number of seats offered in a program, with some confusion about the exact number of full-time and part-time spots available. There is also debate about the fairness of offering acceptances early in the interview process and concerns about the scoring system. Additionally, members are inquiring about additional interview dates and waiting for acceptance notifications by the end of the month.

Hi all, just submitted my app on 11/10 and attended a zoom information session last night. Good luck everyone!

I think depending on the program, how long you have been out of school and your years of experience can be a negative if it's greater than 5 years. Some schools want that sweet spot of 3-5 so not too far out from school but some experience under your belt.

This may be true. I'm in my mid 30s with 8 years of ICU experience at the time of application. I got my MSN in 2023 with an APRN certification. I think the last time from formal education may be a factor.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the feedback.  I am enrolling in the UCSD online Biochemistry class and possibly additional classes to show more recent academic progress and the ability to still get A's for future applications.

Yeah, brother, your package seems rock solid. I am surprised that you didn't receive an interview and didn't identify any areas for improvement. An off-hand thing I did hear from Dr. Goode was about the essay not really hitting the questions being asked.

But I see you getting into a program. Have you interviewed anywhere else?

Thank you for the feedback.  I think my essay definitely answered the questions, but was too lengthy.  Answering all 7 questions was tough to reduce size, but I did spend a lot of time writing and editing as I was a bit rusty on the academic writing.  I know I should have condensed it.

I have not interviewed anywhere else yet, Pittsburgh was my first application, and top choice school since undergrad.

Did you get an interview or into the program?  I would think the very recent MSN/APRN completion would cancel out the concern for being out of school for so long (BSN). I am going to take Biochemistry online at UCSD and looking into other classes to take as well.

I interviewed in March. I got into three other programs.

Do you mind sharing which programs you got into/ are experienced nurses or APRNs friendly? Thanks!

Anyone hear anything or email them?
I know we still have 5 more days! Just figured maybe we'd hear before LOL wishful thinking 🫶.

Was thinking the same thing that we should start hearing something. The smart thing would be a working excel file that just plugs in people as they interviewed and scored. So calls around rankings are easy peasy.

Judging from people who were contacted in the past and from following this thread it looks like Pitt makes calls on Fridays. Maybe tomorrow will be the day?!

I think O'Donnell said this is the way they do things.
