Members are discussing receiving acceptance calls for a DNP Nurse Anesthesia program at UPenn, celebrating their acceptance, and organizing a Facebook group for the incoming class. Some members share their stats and tips for a successful application, while others express disappointment at being waitlisted or denied. Encouragement and support are shared among members who did not receive acceptance, with discussions about the waitlist process and potential movement.
Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this program yet, so I thought I would start one. I submitted 10/26.
Nursing GPA: 4.0
Science GPA: 4.0
Years of experience: 2+ (1.5 ICU)
Quality of experience: Level 2 trauma center. Medium-sized city.
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC. No CCRN yet.
Let me know who else has applied and we can share our interview invites, acceptances, etc..
I am at work and just read the voicemail for (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). I'm jumping and crying in the breaking room LOL
Just sent a request for the facebook group!
For those who are waitlisted/denied, don't give up hope! I've applied to 5 other schools before UPenn and this was the only school that interviewed me. Don't ever doubt that you're not good enough for CRNA school, keep pushing through and don't give up!
My stats are below...
GPA 3.4, Trauma ICU 1 year, travelRN ICU 1yr/Medical ICU 1 yr, charge RN and preceptor
Some extra things I did to make my resume stat out - 1. Ultrasound IV Certification 2. PALS 3. Shadowed for 4 years - total 100 hours 4. I retook Stat at a community college
In the open house they mentioned that they really take letters of rec into account - my recs were my Nurse Manager, my Intensivist/Director of Medicine and a clinical professor from nursing school. Find people in leadership that you jive well with and if you don't have someone that's OK - it took me three different ICUs to find people who rooted for me. Not all ICUs are toxic and competitive ? AND CRNA school is totally possible if you keep pushing yourself.

Did you just get a call? I haven't heard anything yet, but I haven't gotten an email or a change in the portal that says denied or waitlisted either.
