University of Ottawa-Nursing Second Entry(fast tracking)

World Canada CA Programs

Hello everyone!

Does anyone want to apply for the Ottawa U second entry nursing program starts from 2015? Is it very hard to be enrolled in this program according to Ottawa U 's website?

I am currently taking prerequisite course at Athabasca U (BIOL 235)

I have looked at this program also a bit, but have not decided if I will apply or not. My concerns are mainly: 1) 12-24 students is not a lot to admit, very competitive, 2) I have never taken a research methods course, and would need to complete one by correspondence within the next 3 months if I wanted to apply, 3) I would strongly prefer a January entry program and am waiting to hear back now. Though I am still considering it.

I have completed BIOL 235 however, so let me know if you have questions!

Hello!

I don't have the research method course, either. I am taking BIOL 235 and MATH215 (STAT) course from Athabasca U currently.

Since you talk about the January entry program, I ve never heard that one before? do you have the link? Is it Ottawa U's program?

Hope we can keep in touch!

One thing to keep in mind, BIOL 235 is generally not sufficient to meet the ANP requirements for OttawaU. I took that course last year and applied and I was told that I was rejected for that reason. You need to take an additional ANP course in order to qualify, although you never know what will change from year to year.

Yes that's correct! I emailed them and they told me to take another ANP1107 to meet the requirement. How about your application this year?

Thanks, fingers_crossed, I forgot that. I was sitting here trying to figure out why exactly I hadn't considered the UOttawa program more seriously - it's because I read somewhere that the A&P I took doesn't fit their requirements and I'd need to take another course.

Cheers!

When I applied last year, I was under the impression that I had met the ANP requirements, so I was so hopeful everyday, checking the application status. It would have been nice to know earlier that I wouldn't even qualify, it would have saved a lot of anxious waiting. I haven't taken any additional courses, so I don't think I'll be applying again this year. Still waiting to hear back about January intake.

Lucia1225 - the January entry program I applied to is through the University of Calgary, though I think there may be another (others) on the East coast that have different requirements!

U of Calgary is too far for me. Hope I can find some schools near Ottawa. But OttawaU has limited admission so far...they said they only admited 12-18 people

Ya I think BIOL 235 is not enough. They suggest me to take their ANP 1107

Hey there! I also applied last year to the 2nd entry program, but my grades were not high enough. I emailed the school when I was going through the application process and they told me that in order to cover all the material for anatomy and physiology, you would have to take ANP 1107 from OttawaU OR BIOL 235 AND BIOL 230, which is straight up Human Physiology.

(I remember you from last year's thread, fingers_crossed! Hope you've been successful with your endeavours in the past year :) )

Hi @ejohnso6 !

I was just wonder what your grades were when you applied to UOttawa, if you don't mind me asking!

Because I am planning on applying but I'm not sure if i have the grades to get in! :(
