University Of San Francisco VANAP BSN FALL 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! This will be my 3rd attempt to apply in USFCA VANAP here in Sacramento! On my first try, I was still taking one of my major science classes, Ethics and Philosophy. The second one, I realized that my essays were horrible. I'm coming back with complete prerequisites and I hope my essays are better this time.

My GPA is not as competitive which is 3.2

However, I have a long experience in bedside care as I have been a CNA for more than 7 years and is now working at a University hospital taking care of Psych Patients for 3 years already.

I have no volunteer experience, but I am an active member of an organization that does medical missions in remote areas in the Philippines.

I'm looking forward to converse and share the anxiety (lol) with the rest of aspiring nursing students of this prestigious school!

I struggled as well! Took me months to write all of it down >_< LOL I'm really hoping for all of us too!

Do you know when will be the first round of acceptance? I heard they give it out every Friday but I'm not sure when will be the start of it.

I have no idea. This is what is listed on the online portal:

Decisions will be finalized and mailed out starting mid-March. Decisions thereafter will be made on a rolling basis for all majors except Nursing.

So, I guess with Nursing they just release it at once? I'm still waiting for them to receive my transcripts which were sent last week. Hopefully, that doesn't delay anything.

Found this on their website:

FALL APPLICANTS

Deadline to apply March 1

All transcripts must be received by March 15

Decision notification begins April 1

Reply/deposit date within two weeks of offer

All students will receive an update on their admission status in early April. We will continue to make offers to candidates until we have reached our capacity.

I hope it will get to them on time ! and thank you for forwarding that fall applicants note from the website! it really helps a lot!

Hi guys good luck to you all,

just wanted to share some info since I know when I applied I was going crazy trying to figure out when I would hear back!

I am currently in the program and was accepted for Fall 19 semester. Decision letters went out on Friday April 12! If your accepted you will receive an email to your regular email stating that changes have been made to your portal and log in to see the changes. Once there you will see a letter of acceptance. They typically send out letters on Friday's and then once first round goes out the people have 2 weeks to accept their spots. After that a second round will go out and so on until all spots are filled.

I know for certain that some of the professors read your essays themselves and a lot of the decision making goes into these essays! All in all the wait is terrible but just know if your not accepted this round don’t give up! Keep applying because it’s worth it!!

Thank you so much for the info! It's a big help so that I'm not constantly checking my email wondering when, so thank you! I did struggle with the essays, but I did my best. How are you liking the program so far?

Of course! I know the feeling!
honestly, I absolutely love this program! I love that it is small because your cohort feels like a little family and you become really close to your professors! I think this makes your whole experience that much better! Also, the older cohorts are very nice and helpful for any questions you may have which makes it that much better! It’s nice too school isn’t every day of the week... typically it’s Tuesday and Thursday and then a clinical day! So about 3 days a week!

WOW!, that's amazing! I don't know why I was under the impression it would be a lot more days a week. I mean of course, you still have to study, etc., but I thought physically you would have to be there more. It sounds so great! Now, I'm really hoping I get in even more!

Yeah surprisingly it’s only been 3 days a week for nursing classes so far. This semester we have to take a Monday night class but it is a writing class just for graduation purposes. However, if you have a previous bachelors degree you don’t have to take it.

That's not bad at all. I pictured myself living there for some reason. LOL. Thank you so much again for all of the info! I really appreciate it!
