University of Minnesota, Entry MSN 2016

Hi All,

I'm an applicant for the Summer 2016 cohort to the Univ. of Minnesota Entry Masters program for students with a non-nursing background.

I have applied to many programs. Most have already turned me down. I'm waiting on Seattle University and Minnesota. I know Minne said they are sending invitations to interview or rejection notifications on Feb 26th.

Has anyone heard anything yet?? Getting anxious.

Hi all! The leaflet we received at the interviews lists our mandatory orientation as August 23rd.

So, I guess some spots opened up because I was offered a place off the wait list yesterday! I was so sure that wouldn't happen based on seeing posts here from people applying previous years for the second time, so I am still kind of in shock. I paid my deposit this afternoon, so it was probably too late in the day to be sent anything, but I was wondering if you all ever got the information emails? They said something about a scholarship one and I was hoping to see it before the application deadlines pass.

They just sent out the New Student Welcome Info Letter yesterday. So I'm sure you should be getting one soon!

Congratulations to all of you who were accepted! I just found this page and I'm really excited and nervous to be joining you in the fall. I'm a Minneapolis native, so if you have any questions about relocating, cokoro11, I'd be happy to try and help!

Thanks for sharing so much valuable information Evelyn! One specific question I have about buying scrubs: would you recommend getting the optional lab coat? Did you wear one in clinicals?

Nope, you will definitely never wear the optional lab coat. I would recommend 2 pairs of scrubs though. Congrats!

I also just got in off the wait list on Monday and it seems that they are waiting to send us our welcome email. Is there anything in there that you can post on here so that we can see what we'll be getting? Thanks so much and excited to meet you all in the fall!

It was mostly general information to have completed prior to the start of the program and corresponding dates to go with it. For example, creating and setting up you user id/password, UMN email, update contact info, submit immunizations, CPR cert, scholarship form & etc, points of on contact for university, important dates etc.

Is anybody looking for housing near the campus? I'm trying to figure out my living situation for next year. Also has anybody created a fb group for the class?

Yes, I am since I'm coming from out of state (IL) I won't be bringing my car so I think I will be staying at University Commons since its close and within my budget. No, I also haven't seen any Facebook groups for any of the cohorts.
