University of Miami Spring 2021 ABSN

Hi Everyone!

I know that it’s super early, but the application JUST opened up this past Saturday February 1st, so I thought I’d start up a thread.

I submitted my application on the 1st and I’m wishing all of you the best of luck!

Hey,

I recently got accepted. My overall GPA was 3.0 and prereq was 3.8. I do have 4 years of experience working a scribe and trainer in various specialities which I think really helped. Don't worry and good luck!

Hii Anuunu! Unfortunately I still haven’t heard back from UM about my acceptance, my application is still on hold.. not sure if this a good/bad thing.. I’m trying to stay hopeful though!

I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED! ? I'm so excited!

I'm putting my deposit down, but I'm wondering if any of you have heard anything of how clinical rotations will work in January? I know they're doing a lot in the simulation lab, but I'm worried nursing students won't be allowed to work in the hospitals by January. This program is going to cost the same either way and I don't want to be at a disadvantage due to a lack of clinical hours. Do any of you guys have thoughts or additional info on this?

@futurenp0096 OMG CONGRATS!! How long did it take for you to find out?!

Also, another question. Did you guys have both of your letter of recommendations submitted before you submitted your app?

Hi! How long after you received the hold did you hear back on your acceptance? Sorry I think I saw previously that you replied on here saying you were accepted but I don’t see that post any more.

I didn't, I called and they said you could submit before having them both in.

Thank you! ? It took about a week after I got the e-mail from UM that said "your application is under review". And to answer your other question, I did have all of my recc letters submitted at the time of application. Good luck, I'm sure you got this!

Does anyone know if they accept Portage Learning credits? I was supposed to take microbio this fall at my local community college but its fall already so now I have to take the class and lab online. I'm trying to decide between University of Phoenix (more well-known but literally 2x the price) and Portage Learning which is the online learning division of Geneva college.

I hope you hear back soon with good news ? !

@futurenp0096did you ever find out about your portage question? Usually they allow from the online university’s you mentioned below, but IDK about portage. I feel like with covid they might be lenient on stuff like that.

I asked and they gave me a generic "as long as the courses are completed through a regionally accredited institution, we'll accept them be they online or in-person." She made it sound like they won't look super closely but portage is accredited through Geneva college, not accredited in and of itself. I might just go with University of Phoenix but its just WAY more expensive.

Hi guys! I was missing intro to psychology credit and I was told to take it through portage learning by casey medina. I already completed it and the course was not expensive. Portage was great for me!
