University of Miami CRNA Program- Spring 2024

Published

Hello guys! I haven't been able to find a forum for this upcoming cohort. I just finished submitting my application a few days ago and just recently received my canelink credentials. How's everyone else rolling along?

Specializes in Multisystem ICU, CCRN.

It seems as if a large amount of people applied to their program their year. I wonder if that's the issue.

Do they ever down right reject people? Or do they just place everyone "on hold"

Specializes in CVICU, MICU & SICU.

I was told today by a friend currently in the program that there have been rejections sent out as of last week and today. (Per her friend that received one) So as of now, I'm taking it as a sign that we still have a chance.

Good to know. Thank you

I wonder how many people apply to their program per year. To date, I've only received the e-mail stating they are going to "further review" my application for early April.

I'm assuming if slots are still available after first round of interviews, then they will interview candidates from the "further review" pool and if slots are still open after that then pick from the "On Hold" applicants.

Or... so many people applied that they have to put some apps "On Hold" to review what they currently have and then get to the rest of the applications.

I'm just guessing though haha

I emailed them and they said they had 300+ applicants this cycle

That's a lot!! I am not expecting to make the cut for an interview because of my grades and lower GPA compared to many in this thread, but it's good motivation to better my "stats" for future apps

Wow! That is a lot. I wonder how much they accept each cycle, is it 45?

If I'm not mistaken 26-30 students per class

I have a feeling that if you applied much later in the application cycle but have good stats, it's still going to be tough to get in because there wasn't enough time to review. Not sure! Just kinda my theory.  I wonder if that's why they're holding some of us

Yes, they said 45 in their information session.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your GPA? You might honestly still have a chance

I figured this was exactly what happened.

My overall is 3.33, but my pre-req GPA is higher (3.5-ish). I've been an ICU nurse since 2013, but also have 6 years experience in Dialysis and Vascular access where I ran treatments (HD/CRRT/Plasmapheresis) and placed PICCs, CVC's, arterials, HD caths, etc etc...

I don't have my CCRN, but have my VA-BC and CNN. Currently in the process of getting my CCRN, taking the GRE and re-taking courses like Patho, Pharm and Chem to try and boost my GPA. I still decided to apply, but I'm hoping they take all my experience into consideration since some people are applying with 3.89+ GPA's ?

I think some of you all are interviewing this week. Best of luck to you guys! Exciting stuff
