University of Miami Accelerated BSN Fall 2009

If you've been accepted to the "U" for either the Accelerated or basic BSN Fall 2009 program...introduce yourselves. I got into the ABSN & want to get know any future Canes. =)

I've been trying to figure out what I can expect from Financial Aid when they surprise me with everything in August, and do you mean that we can expect to be approved for a certain amount of federal loans and then have UM actually extend only half of them to us? Or something else entirely? I'm just curious about any details you can give me.

Would you recommend that I just get approved for private education loans (Sallie Mae, etc.) for the worst case scenario and then downgrade the loans if I need to?

The way I understand is that we can get up to $5,500 in Stafford Subsidized loan, and $7000 in Stafford Unsubsidized - am I even on the right track? Can we expect to get any aid directly from the University itself in addition to federal aid?

Thanks so much for your help - I've already been to Financial Aid office but they pretty much just show you the door. I'm just not sure what to expect.

I got the immunization form in the mail - maybe about a week or 2 ago. Nothing else other than that and the acceptance letter has come, though.

I keep forgetting to post this from the other UM Accelerated program page - the ISBNs for the first semester's textbooks - You've probably have seen it already, but it helps me to feel that I have an idea of what's coming:

Hey guys! sorry that i've been missing in action...my house got broken into and my comp & laptop were stolen haven't had a chance to log on. Mr.StudentNurse glad to see you started a FB page for us...I'll be joining ASAP. =) Has anyone heard on how the summer ABSN people are doing so far?
