University of Miami-ABSN Summer 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I know it's extremely early but I wanted to start a thread because I'm sure that like me, many of you have lots of questions. I'm hoping that this thread can be used to help us get answers! I would also like to know what other schools are you all applying to.

Any students that were previously accepted and willing to share their tips, stats, experience, etc we will gladly appreciate it.

Good luck to everyone. We got this!

Wow congratlations!!! So happy for you!

Do you mind me asking when you applied?

Thanks!!!

I applied 9/20. Somewhere up above in this thread I outlined my particular process, because when I was looking in previous threads there was so little info.

I found it! Thank you! :)

When I called today I was being told that my application looks really good but I only sent it on 12/08 so I think it'll take a few more weeks to hear back from them. I'm hoping I'll hear something sooner though!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Definitely something to celebrate this holiday season!

Congrats! That is so exciting! How did you find out? Did they send an email or did you just happen to look at your CaneLink account? Hoping to hear back soon!

Thank you so much!! I definitely didn't expect to hear until after the holidays...Big Surprise!!

I check my account everyday, at 5pm ish' nothing. Then I received an email in my personal email @ 6:05 "Dear Rachael, You have a new message in your University of Miami Message Center..." Then I logged in again and there were updates on main screen and the message center.

First and foremost I'd like to congratulate those who have been accepted into the program and wish those that will be applying, or already applied, good luck! I will be attending UM for their Spring 2019 ABSN program. I was very skeptical on applying since I didn't have anything on my application to separate me from the rest of the applicants besides military service, in a non-healthcare career field. No experience in any medical capacity, no volunteer hours in a healthcare setting, and a mediocre GPA. Bottom line is, I encourage all of you reading this to apply to the program. Make sure you have all the necessary prerequisites completed, or in progress, and submit your application. The earlier you apply, the earlier you will hear back. I also encourage those who have been accepted to create a FB group; this way you can get to know other classmates and use it as a medium to share information. Good luck to you all!

I love your encouragement!!! I took your advice and set up the FB group.

For now the title is the same as this group name. We can certainly get more creative as it evolves.

Can't wait to get started and meet my fellow classmates, and RRDRGZ... hear about your stories and advice from the Cohort just ahead of us!!

Question, should I send my class that I just finished to nursingCAS or straight to UM? My application was already reviewed and I feel like if I sent it to nursingCAS it would take awhile for UM to get it

Previously, applicants would send the updated grades directly to UM. However, I would advise you contact UM's School of Nursing admission office. They are super helpful and responsive and will give you the correct answer.

I applied Dec 31 and was verified Jan 10. Undergrad is a 3.1 but my pre rec is a 4.0 right now. Still have micro and A&P 2 to take this spring. Come from a Marketing background and currently a project specialist for a large company based in Philly. I'm kind of nervous since I don't have hospital experience so fingers crossed.

Has anyone else received a decision yet?
