University of Miami ABSN Summer 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated BSN program at the University of Miami to start in May 2018? I am just finishing up my application now and hoping to submit it in a week or two. I'd like to connect to some others also applying!

I look forward to hearing from you all!

You go to canelink.miami.edu and go to your student center. Under academics you will see search and enroll. Search the courses we are required to take, add them to your cart, and once you're done go to enroll in classes. At least on my canelink they have not updated what the summer semester will cost yet. I hope this helps.

but how do we know what courses to enroll in? I was just accepted last friday and haven't received my acceptance packet...would the info be in there?

Here are the instructions they sent us regarding which class we need to register for.

Does anyone know how many days we have to physically be on campus the first semester? Trying to figure out if I need to move or not bc I live about an hour away

hey - has anyones status recently changed from incomplete to complete that has not heard a decision yet? everyone in the admissions office says something different about it

Specializes in Perinatal.

Update to all; I just got a rejection letter from Miami (which I had already written off since I got into three other schools, one of which in my home town). Just wanted to let you know that they must be finalizing their admissions! Good luck to you all who are still eagerly waiting to hear!

Specializes in PICU / PCVICU.

@adnat86 we have to be there at least 4 days a week (that's only for classes, since clinical days/sites haven't been assigned yet)

I have class 3 days a week...I think it just depends on what classes you are in. Some classes are full...which meant I had to load up from 8am-7pm on monday and tuesday

I had a 3.2 undergrad GPA but I went to a very competitive school in the northeast, so I believe they may have taken this into consideration. I focused a lot on my prerequisites this past year and got a 3.9 pre-req GPA (2 more currently pending by the time I applied to UM). I have been working as a home health aide for a senior woman the past year. Other than that, my background is probably not your typical ABSN student-- I used to work in financial services before I became and aide! But, I have volunteered in hospitals since high school and I've always had a passion for working in the medical field so I talked about that in my essay. Hope that helps:) Good luck!
