I'm new to this site so I apologize in advance if a thread for this has already started but I am looking for any applicants out there for the FNP program for Fall 2011 at University of Maryland's school of nursing. I'm totally stressing over this waiting because I work with this guy who applied last semester and was rejected and he's pretty much a genius, lol. Then I found some posts from Fall 2010 and everyone was rejected. How competitive is getting into this program. I'm starting to think I should really be thinking about what I will do if I don't get in. Anyone know what they are looking for in the application process other than a high GPA?

I'm wondering if it's pretty pointless to even apply to the umb fnp program for fall 2012 if so many are on the waiting list?? (still applying and keeping my trembling fingers crossed)

i'm also applying to hopkins for fall 2012, which is just if not more competitive..... and don't know of any other programs in the area besides coppin state

Hi Wicomico, I am new to this site, just came across this site and saw your post. I had an interview forFNP spring 2012 and found out today that I have been waitlisted for spring 2012. Did you have an interview? Just curious as I don't have any prior experience with UM SON. Wondering if there is any chance for waitlisted candidates to be accepted later. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Telepccn,

I was waitlisted for the Fall 2011. They gave us the option to have our application re-submitted (did not have to do anything new) for Spring 2012. I had to interview again and I just found out yesterday that I was accepted. So, no, I was not pulled off the waitlist but I did have another chance to interview and subsequently was accepted. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Wicomico. Congratulations....and best of luck. i'm very glad for you. I haven't received anything in the mail yet but hope they give me the option to resubmit the app. I was quite disheartened y'day, but feeling a little better after reading your post. First time in my career, being denied an admission for something. In fact, my interview went very well which left me very hopeful. I guess I'll wait for the mail from them.

Has anyone applied to the Fall 2012 semester and completed an interview?

Well, I applied to the Psychiatric NP program for the fall of 2012. I have not had an interview. I was told that not every specialty interviews. When I called a few days ago I was told that the status updates should hit SIMS by the end of the week, maybe into early next week. Pretty anxious right now!

Yes, had my FNP interview about 2 weeks ago. I can barely stand the wait.... anyone else??

Does anyone know how many people interviewed and how many seats are available?

Well, sort of figured maybe about 36 people interviewed, based on the fact that they interviewed about 12 people per day over the 3 days they interviewed candidates. Not really sure how many actual slots, hopefully at least 20! I asked my interviewers how many people applied this year and one of them said, "A lot! If you've gotten this far, you're doing really well". Sigh. I guess they are making us wait until next week:(.
