Is anyone out there enrolled in this BSN online program? Please share your experiences...starting to shop around for the shortest/cheapest avenue to a BSN.

I was considering WGU but loss interest due to their 3.0 GPA scale.

Also looking at Grand Canyon.

Anyone that goes to ULL having trouble getting their financial aid reimbursement? I had to pay my tuition up front because my financial aid didn't cover the full amount, and I was initially told I would be reimbursed 2-3 weeks after the semester started. It's now the middle of week 6, classes are done next week and I still haven't received it. When I called last week they said they haven't even begun sending it out yet. Anyone else having issues? I'm tired of calling and getting the same answers

Update on my ULL experience: I received a very clear, well-organized plan of study yesterday along with my formal acceptance letter into the RN-BSN program. All my co-requisites are covered, so I only have to complete the nine Nursing courses for the BSN. This will take about 12 months total. The courses are seven weeks in duration with a break in between each session (about 8 days break on average except for a five week break around Christmas and the New Year). During three of the seven-week sessions I am slated to take only one course, and during the other three seven-week sessions I will be taking two courses. ULL has really been helpful during this whole process: I was assigned an enrollment counselor who gives me regular updates on my status. I also challenged the need for a couple of co-requisites by email, and my advisor responded and gave me credit for them the next day. I was also able to chat with an online assistant when I had a couple of questions about signing up for classes. Every time I have a question I have been able to get help and an immediate reply, which is so different from so many schools where your emails and calls go unanswered (or you have to wait and wait for an answer)! Thus far, I have been very pleased with my experience at ULL. We'll see how the actual courses go...

I just had my transcripts evaluated and was told that my communications course from a previous college did not count since it was only 2 credit hours instead of the 3 that they require. I took that class back in 1994 and since then the credit hours have been bumped up to 4 for that class at that college. Any suggestions as to how to get around this. I was wondering if anyone else had this experience and what to do.

I wonder if they'd let you combine a couple of courses to make one communication course? Usually courses are worth 3 credits, so that 2 credit course put you at a disadvantage. Do you have another class you could ask them to combine with the 2-credit comm class? Like Speech or something of the sort?

I decided to drop Uta because I was over the history classes. I will take a general biology a music class a literature class and I'm finish with pre reqs. Was wondering if I had to take a English literature or if any would do..

I too looked into UTA, but I would have been required to take a Texas Government class (Political Science), so I decided to go to ULL and got into the program with no co-requisites required. ULL's co-requisites fit my situation much better, so I decided to go with them. They are also about $60 cheaper per credit hour (the rate for in-state and out-of-state is the same). As far as the literature classes are concerned, you need a British Literature class for the RN-BSN at ULL. I would check their online catalog description of this class and try to take one that resembles it as closely as possible, but they may take a different type of lit class as a substitute if you ask. It never hurts to ask! Good luck!

I am starting the program next week. Like many have said, in order to complete the program in 12 months my degree plan has me taking 2 courses at a time. My degree plan has me taking Nursing 344 & Nurs 421 together then later on Nursing 355 and Nursing 396 together. Has anyone done this? Is this reasonable while working full time ( 3 12 hr shifts) and having a 2 year old at home?

I just completed the first term, 353 and 354 and am currently taking statistics as well, while working 3-4 12 hours shifts a week. It's doable. The orientation class you can finish quickly. You create a profile, and take 2 quizzes and then I never had to think about the class again during the 7 weeks. I spent about 2-3 hours a week total on the other class. There was always a quiz due Fridays by 8pm, and either a 2-3 page paper or a discussion question each week pertaining to the chapters assigned. I just took a morning to work on homework on one of my days off and was able to complete everything for the week in the one day. Then I still could have my other days off to relax. Getting ready to start 355 and 396 next week. Good luck to you. So far it's pretty easy and I love it!

Great thanks for that update! Good luck on your next courses and please let me know how those go as well!!

Just completed 344 & 421. Yes, it is very doable. 344 is not too difficult, reading two chapters a week, watching a PowerPoint presentation that goes along with the chapters, and taking a quiz on each chapter. I think there were either 2 or 3 discussion questions, nothing too difficult. 421 is more involved but still doable. 421 included (if I remember correctly) two 2-page papers, 3 discussion questions, and a longer paper at the end, along with the weekly quizzes. I didn't find the PowerPoints as helpful and just outlined the chapters on my own.

Ashmiller85,

Congratulations on completing your first two classes, you're well on your way now! I'm also taking those 2 classes starting next week. Since they reduced the credit hours on 396 I'm thinking the workload should lighter. Looking forward to getting this done, and then I'm on to the capstone. Will be done June 20. Hang in there, the year will go fast!

Thanks shuggypie! The terms fly by. I love the 7 week classes. It keeps me busy between school and work. But I love knowing I will be done quickly, and it's relatively easy!
