Hi there,
I've applied to many nursing schools and it has come down to this. I'll be getting in to one of the two schools, which is the University of Victoria by Fall 2010 or Langara College by Spring 2011. I know they are both good schools but I know what the pros and cons are for each one. Actually, only one con for Langara, which is a receiving a college degree. The reason being... After graduating, I plan to move around the country, particularly Australia.
I'll be doing my research and contacting the employers regarding about my credentials, but does it matter if I got my BSN from a university or a community college?
What's your take on it.
PS: I might request to move this to Australia forums later on.

The degree is what matters, not who issued it.
Bump for advice.
I've checked with my employers here, they said it doesn't matter which school I go to because all nursing schools go to the nursing provincial board for approval. How about other countries in the world? I checked with Sydney, they hadn't gotten back to me yet.

college degree? or diploma? I thought RN diploma no longer exists.
It's important that you graduate with a BScN. Langara might be well known in BC but it's not well known in other provinces or internationally. I wouldn't risk it if you only graduate with a diploma in Langara.
I checked their site. You're safe... it is a BSN. Go for it.

I don't think it matters who issued it. A BSN is a BSN.

You likely already know this by now but the UVic undergrad BSN degree is actually a program that starts out at Camosun College ( Nursing - Camosun College ). You do the first 5 semesters at Camosun and then the final 3 semester at UVic. You end up w/ a degree from UVic, but you don't actually take the first few years there. The two institutions work in conjunction w/ each other.
