University of California at San Diego (UC San Diego) New Grad Residency November 2024

Nurses Residency

Published

Hello everyone

I wanted to start a forum for those who will be applying to the UCSD New Grad program November 2024.

Do any of you know when is the next new grad residency webinar?

I am not sure. But if they have one soon there should be a link to register on the webpage!

Hi! I believe on the website it said 5-6 months in advance so I'll be checking the website for the new grad postings.

I forgot to post this last week when I saw the announcement under UCSD's job postings, but the webinar will be on June 5th at 11AM. Posting is still up, so sign up while you still can! 🙂

Also, for the new grad program, do you know if you need no more than 6 months experience at the time of application or at the time of the cohort start date? What if I've hit my 6 months exactly at the time of application? I'm not sure if I'm eligible to apply anymore, and I don't see that UCSD has an email we can contact for any questions about the new grad program (like UC Davis does). I hit my 6 months in the middle of June. 😞 I currently work in a Level 4 NICU in Sacramento. I'm originally from San Diego, but I moved up here for nursing school and was lucky enough to be one of the first few people in my cohort to land a job. Pay is great, but I just want to be back home in San Diego! 😭

Hey! I know some people who work in the NICU. Pretty sure it's less than 6 months when you start as a new grad, but they lean towards as little experience as an RN. Some people were hired as RN 2 with even a little less than a year, so in my opinion you'd be better off doing that since you will have closer to a year by November.  Also from what I know, NICU mostly hires new grads for the March cohort.

So I just applied to their Clinical Nurse II position for the NICU that closed last night. I checked my status this morning, and it's already said "Others More Competitive." I've heard that people have been hired with a little less than a year, but how? 😭 I guess I should just tough it out and continue to build my experience while I wait for another NICU position to open up 😕

Prob since you aren't close enough to a year yet. The person I knew I think had maybe 10 months so try again when you have more.

Can someone please post the units that are hiring this cohort?
