Members are discussing the application process and status updates for a New Grad RN program at UC Davis Health, specifically focusing on reference checks, interview experiences, and offers for different units like Operation Room (OR). Members are sharing their experiences with reference requests, discussing the possibility of being considered for future cohorts, and seeking advice on starting inpatient versus outpatient roles. Additionally, successful applicants are sharing information about onboarding processes and previous experience in the OR.
I'd like to start a thread to keep updated with everyone's timeline from "Application Received" to "Hired" or anything in between. I didn't see a post and wanted to start one.

They have two Cohort start dates for this fall application. One starts August and another one in October. In the application information it said there was no way of letting them know what date you prefer. I guess they make the decisions.
My theory is that if you have your license by a certain date you will start in August. Or depending on the unit they'd prefer you in maybe some units start in August and others in October? No concrete information is given for this matter. Based on previous discussions seems like some people hinted in the cover letter preferred start date.

Do not stress too much if your application is currently "under review" some applicants status didn't change until June and were still invited to interview. It all depends on the units they are reviewing first. Last fall OR was the last one to get reviewed/interviewed. The first one was NICU interviewed and hired by beginning of May.

Good luck guys...
that is such a bummer, if you are really curious about why - it may not be a bad idea to reach out and ask? good luck to you @LokYee thanks for updating us
Applied last cohort as well - just so you all know, they don't give you a preferred start date because each unit has a different budget and different schedule for which date they want to hire their new grad cohort. Some units may not even know up until the month before august for example and then decide they are going to hire a cohort onto their unit this year. Also, be careful letting your preferences be known on your cover page because they simply look at your preceptorship and any Davis externships you did and then send your app there. I made the mistake last semester of saying I only want PICU on my cover letter and then if any med surg units saw my application they of course wouldn't want to hire someone who doesn't want to work there. Now it would've been nice to just have a job LOL.
Peaceandlovenurse said:Mine says "application received" I applied 4/7 and I hinted towards anything mother/baby preferably L&D. Unfortunately my senior "preceptorship" was med/surg/tele but I do have volunteer experience in L&D. Anyone else hint at mother/baby?
Mine still says application received too, I hope that this changes soon for us!!
