Members are discussing the application process and status updates for a New Grad RN program at UC Davis Health, specifically focusing on reference checks, interview experiences, and offers for different units like Operation Room (OR). Members are sharing their experiences with reference requests, discussing the possibility of being considered for future cohorts, and seeking advice on starting inpatient versus outpatient roles. Additionally, successful applicants are sharing information about onboarding processes and previous experience in the OR.
I'd like to start a thread to keep updated with everyone's timeline from "Application Received" to "Hired" or anything in between. I didn't see a post and wanted to start one.
Hey everyone!
Just curious about the reference check process...what happens if one of my references hasn't responded? Has anyone else had a similar experience with the reference check? I have reached out to my reference quite a bit but they are extremely busy. Makes me nervous thinking I could lose my chance.

I've gotten an offer from Davis before for a diff position and I went all the way up to interviews 2x until I got the job the 3rd time with the same exact references. Sometimes I feel like they just may have already filled the position
Sorry don't know why it's replying on this same post but:
Does anyone know if we are still "reviewed" that its possible that they're keeping us in mind for the next cohort after October? Wondering why they didn't say "no longer considered" this time around

Unfortunately they make it your responsibility to collect 5 references. I believe they give you 48 hours to notify them, and then 72 hours for them to complete the survey. Find a different reference if you haven't heard back! Any professor or nurse mentor should do. Good luck!

Not sure about that since the next application for the next cohort will open in November. You will likely have to submit a new application.
NurseU said:As far as I understood, all job offers for October cohort have been already sent except for Operation Room. People who were interviewed for OR, please let us know when you will have any updates! And good luck!
Did everyone else who interviewed for OR get the reference check requests already?
Yes the reference check for OR we sent out on 8/22 and had to be completed by last Tuesday. The last update was that everything was sent back to the hiring manager and to wait to hear and check the applicant portal for updates. From what I have read we will get notified if offered the position and if not the status will go from Route to no longer considered. So fingers crossed and good luck.

Congrats! I was wondering if both of you guys had previous OR experience? I want to work in the OR but I don't have any experience. How did your application stand out?

Hi where are you seeing a new grad program for outpatient? I haven't come across it but would be interested too!
