Members are discussing the application process and status updates for a New Grad RN program at UC Davis Health, specifically focusing on reference checks, interview experiences, and offers for different units like Operation Room (OR). Members are sharing their experiences with reference requests, discussing the possibility of being considered for future cohorts, and seeking advice on starting inpatient versus outpatient roles. Additionally, successful applicants are sharing information about onboarding processes and previous experience in the OR.
I'd like to start a thread to keep updated with everyone's timeline from "Application Received" to "Hired" or anything in between. I didn't see a post and wanted to start one.
Congrats to those who have heard back from Davis! That's a great start to your nursing career.
For those who did not hear back, what is your game plan? I have tried applying to all these hospitals in the Sacramento, Folsom, EDH, Placerville, Roseville, Rancho, etc. areas and have been declined left and right due to being a a new grad nurse and hospitals wanting people with "more RN experience". I've decided to extend my radius to the bay area and see what luck I get over there. I am extremely discouraged by these results and curious as to what advice you all would have.

I'm looking at new grad residencies in the Bay Area and SoCal! I go to school in SoCal and am from the Bay. I would love to move home, but everyone tells me how difficult it is to find a new grad residency in the Bay Area.

Just out of curiosity do you have any certifications or job/volunteer experience?

Yes, I have my BLS. I have two different organizations I have done volunteer work for, for the past 2+ years. As far as job experience I have had a variety of positions within healthcare, but I have not worked with my RN License yet.
