Hello, future nurses!
I'm a current U of C student who applied through the degree holder route. I'll be graduating at the end of this year. Please feel free to post any questions here!
Another round of applications is starting soon for the January 2019 intake of Transfer and/or Degree Holder students. Here's the U of C page for their info:
One of the most common questions is whether the courses you have taken meet the faculty's pre-requisites. The best way to be sure is to email a screenshot of your transcript to [email protected] and ask if you are missing anything.
Important note! As of 2019, the faculty is changing the schedule for the summer terms.
"We will compress all courses in Term 4 and Term 7 to be offered over a 9-week period from late April to the end of June. The result would be an intense spring term, but students would have no scheduled nursing courses during July and August."
While having 2 months off sounds great for some, it causes trouble for others (student loans, jobs, child care etc.). Please be aware of this change before applying.
Best of luck!
Thank you @Kenobi, I was going to ask about that this morning... I haven't received my package yet.Can you give me some insight into the parking situation? I was looking on the website and it says that the parkade and stadium parking is sold out for the year. What would be the best parking options for January? I was thinking of just doing the park and ride at a station close to my house, but if we have to travel to a clinical site halfway through the day, then wasting time traveling to pick-up my car doesn't make sense.
Hi @Jennysi I'm sorry I'm not too familiar with the parking situation as I don't drive to school. However, quite a few of my classmates park at the Brentwood LRT station (free) and then walk to class (15 min). Once you meet your clinical group, there may be a way to arrange car-pooling as well!
Hi ming88, I also applied for the january transfer route with a 3.7 but I didnt submit my application till Aug 1, when did you apply?
Hi Noorsw,
If your GPA is great, if you won't see your status changed from green circle to check mark, then I recommend you to call them on up-coming Monday, and I believe when they open your application when you call them, they might just tell you a good news. I read from another forum saying all the nursing advisors are good. Good luck!
Just wondering, I've started apartment hunting and I wasn't sure, are most of our lectures located on the main campus or the Foothills campus? I'm trying to be as close to the school as possible so I don't have to drive in everyday and go hunting for parking.
I'm super excited and anxiously awaiting my application package. Has anyone else gotten theirs yet?

Hi Malubaby,
I've only received my official letter of admission today. I'm assuming by the end of next week, we should be able to receive our application package. Have a great fall.

I live in Brentwood and it is a quick walk to lectures, and about a 15 minute bus ride to Foothills. Parking is super expensive on campus, so I highly recommend living within walking distance if you can. Plus the morning walk helps wake you up for those early morning lectures that it looks like we will be having!! :)
I received my admission package yesterday!
