I'm applying to the Bsn program at university of Arlington Texas. I have a GPA of 2.3 overall. My degree is in psychology....I have a couple of withdrawals and retakes. Do you think I get in? If I get accepted. I would have to take the pre requisites first...do you think if I get good grades in the pre reqs I can get in the program?

It doesn't look very good, to me ...but the best source for information will be the nursing department at the school you're interested in. Not only can they give you the minimum requirements, but they can tell you what their typical cut-off is if the program is competitive entry.
Good luck!

Relax. UTA does not look at your overall GPA. They only look at your prerequisites. So unless you have repeatedly done poorly in those, retake your sciences and HESI then apply.

Hopefully your prereqs are better than your overall GPA, and you scored well on the HESI. UTA is pretty competitive.
Thanks so much for your advice. I definitely feel better to hear this! Do you know how long it takes to let you know if you are accepted to start taking the pre-requisites?
I don't have most of the pre requisites, I was hoping to take those with them. I took psychology B, sociology B, intensive writing B, chemistry C-, biology C
Also, when do you take the HESI? After you finish taking all the pre-requisites?
Did you graduate from UTA?

I highly recommend you retake Chemistry because UTA does look at your GPA for your 4 sciences (Chemistry, A&P I, A&P II, and Microbiology). You will have at least one consideration since you have a previous degree. If you take at least 3 of your sciences through UTA, that would be another consideration. Just some ideas to improve your chances!
Thank you. I want to take all my sciences with them
Thank you guys, for all the wonderful advise! I got into UTA general admissions: I'm waiting to get my degree plan, so I can choose my classes and start in April! I'm so happy!
Congrats! And good luck.
Thank you
Are you now in the UTA nursing program? If yes, how is it going?
