Hi everyone,

I started the After Degree program last September and I want to say that Year 1 was awesome! Congrats to those who got in and if you have any questions about the process/program (they are doing a big curriculum change this year, though), I'd be happy to try to help! :)

Hi ormack86, my AGPA was 3.6. Someone told me they accept 75 students to the Edmonton location. Not completely sure if this is accurate.

Hello anthonyyy, can you give me an overview of the class/lab schedule? Also, when does the clinical start and how does the placements work?

Hi!

I'm thinking of applying to U of A. Has anyone taken Micro through Athabasca? How did it go?

Hi Hopeful_Nurse2018, I did BIOL 325 at Athabasca and I loved the experience! I started the lab before I even read the textbook, and I have heard from other students that it is best to start the lab earlier than later (at least before midterm) because the lab teaches you many of the materials that will be on the exam. It is also easier to learn the textbook material since you already seen it in the lab. The professors and teaching assistant for the course were very helpful and friendly. However, this is an online course, and you can expect a lot of individual learning.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think the lab was necessary to learn the techniques? I have micro experience from my first degree and was hoping to be exempt as I'd have to travel for the lab.

I think this is a first year level course. I didn't have any micro experience before this so the lab was really helpful for me. Basically they teach you stuff like gram stain, plate streaking, and ELISA in the lab. If you know all this already, I don't see why you should have to go through this again.

Hi tuktuki,

I applied to edmonton and camrose and I'm still waiting to hear back. I recently finished anatomy and nursing research at the end of April. Have you heard anything about your application yet?

Does anyone know the schedule for Spring/Summer classes? Will we have a break of any sort? I live abroad and want to come back at some point next summer, but it's hard to tell how much time we'll have between the end of summer and start of fall semesters.

Thanks magicianfinger! I can't private message yet (don't have enough posts in AN). Is there a link or something you could post?
