University of Alberta - After Degree Program 2017

Hi everyone!

I figured I would start up a thread for those applying/planning to apply to the University of Alberta After Degree program for Fall 2017 admission.

My plan is to apply in January once I have started Medical Microbiology at MacEwan. I'm currently taking BIOL 235 (Anatomy and Physiology) through Athabasca University.

When is everyone else planning on sending in their application?

Good luck to everyone!!

I think they might if you have a very competitive GPA, if not then they likely wait. I am still taking BIOL 235 myself and haven't heard back from U of A yet.

Thanks. My GPA is a 4.0, so I am surprised I haven't heard yet. Good to know there are still more out there who haven't heard.

I am still taking Biol 235, but received an offer last week. I'm not sure how they calculated my GPA, but I'm sure it's less than 4.0, probably around 3.7 or 3.8.

Thanks for letting me know. I wonder if I should contact them and make sure they have everything else that they need.

Hi everyone, I also applied for the Fall 2017 intake. Also haven't heard anything, "decision pending" is all I see. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Hey guys, I am also waiting on a reply. It only says Decision Pending. From what I understand with universities in Ontario, is that it could take until the end of April beginning of May to hear back. Due to the fact that it is a very competitive program all around. Best of luck to everyone!

I'm also still waiting for a response. I'm applying with a 4.0. I finished BIOL 235 in January and had that transcript sent over to the U of A, but it hasn't shown up on my application yet. And I'm just finishing up Medical Microbiology. When I emailed the department they said that they don't offer any sort of acceptance until the application is complete (all prerequisites are completed and transcripts are received).

Rumour has it they changed BScN AD admission process. It used to be first-come-first-serve to those who meet the competitive average cut-off and fill the remaining spots with those that don't meet competitive average from the closest GPA down (You can call the Nursing faculty to find out the competitive GPA, it varies year to year. The year I applied was 3.5).

If your GPA is closer to the minimum, consider also apply to the Camrose site. It's a small cohort (12-20 per year) where GPA requirement are usually not as high.

I'm actually going to be graduating in August from this program so my information may not be 100% accurate as they are in the process of rolling out change

Hey guys!

I got accepted into the Program! I'm waiting on another decision from Mac but I think I'll choose Alberta. I am actually from Ontario and thinking of staying on res. I was wondering what other people were doing and it would be nice to have a buddy and not be alone when i get there :p

Hey everyone,

I applied to the AD program for this year and finished with a 3.6 GPA at the U of A... How do my chances at getting in look?

I just got in with 3.51 admission GPA. 3.50 is the cutoff I believe. You should be fine tsizzle

Hi Everyone! Does anyone have a facebook group for those that are accepted?! Would love to get in touch with some of you before September!
