Members are discussing their experiences and considerations regarding the U.S. University Primary Care FNP Program. Topics include enrollment process, payment plans, accreditation status, program intensity, clinical rotations, professors, and overall satisfaction with the program. Some members are seeking advice on choosing a nationally accredited program and the effectiveness of on-campus intensives in preparing for clinical practice.
Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!

Hi Amy,
The first course has a few smaller assignments, a 1500 word paper, two discussion board posts, and a weekly quiz related to the week's reading. The second course has two discussion board posts, two writing assignments (one is 5 to 7 pages but I haven't looked at the other, reading assignments and no quizzes. It's pretty balanced between the assignments and DP posts. The quizzes are pretty ambiguous, but you have two attempts and they are only worth 10 points. With the available points for each term, they really don't impact your grade much.
I looked at and enrolled in several schools. At the end of the day, since even those universities who help with clinical placement can't guarantee placement, I went for the least expensive knowing I would need to take responsibility for what I learn.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've only completed one class, but if you have questions for the beginning of this part of your education, I'm happy to answer.

Hey Linda! Thank you for the positive feedback the other week. Feeling a little better with almost two weeks under my belt but still have some questions. Would it be OK if I emailed you directly? Or feel free to email me. Personal email- [email protected]

Hi everyone, I have been looking into USU and have like many been sceptic...it seems to good to be true. I live in Alaska and we dont have many options for schools. I got my BSN in Arizona at GCU but they dont offer their FNP program in AK. I started at USC last fall and ended up withdrawing due to falling really ill, working, 1yrold, and husband got deployed. It was a hard end of the year. I am now in a place to start over. I dont want to go back to USC not becuase it wasnt good but the price of 90K is not sitting well. Im just wanting to know how people are liking the program currently and if you graduated have you had any issues finding work.... and do you feel it prepared you. I am one to study and study hard. I did hate having to log in multiple times a week for usc.. and group work gallor! LOL Please anyone feel free to message me.

I'm in my second term at USU. As with most online schools, you have discussion posts, quizzes, and assignments. The first three classes are more review of BSN material I've been told. So far, that's the case. I'm definitely learning. I've heard many times that you get out of the program what you put into it. I would agree with to that. I do like that it's one class at a time the first year, so there isn't a ton of juggling classes. That, and the affordable tuition make it worthwhile for me.
Hi @Rawrr88,
I graduated last year August, took a little break, took my board exam in January of this year and passed the first time. I think depending on where you live, it's just a lot of competition for NP jobs and it's always hard to find a job when you're a new grad. I am a member of the AANP group on fb and some of the NPs there have not found a job for almost a year. I am lucky I found a job after a month of searching. I am still learning because you can't really learn everything from school. I always have to check uptodate and epocrates if my interventions are correct, I am still scared to increase or decrease my patients meds, etc. There's so much to learn especially the guidelines that you have to follow. My advice is that for USU, they don't provide you with preceptors..you will have to look for one so look early. It can be tough on the 2nd year but you can do it. Goodluck to you and if you need anything, just let me know!

Hello Msbrandon506, I also plan on starting the program in September and I live in NC as well. We can definately form link up or even form a group for our cohort. So excited to have someone else from NC.

I wish I could answer you on that one. I don’t start until next month. If you’re on FB look up the group United States University. It’s the one for students beginning March 2020 and beyond. They may be able to answer that question for you.
