Does anyone know what is going on with Union University? I hear it may not be accredited by 2021 and all the faculty may be leaving because of money cuts?

Hi, I am a current SRNA at Union. There was no changes to accreditation, but there was a faculty turn over. All anesthesia professors are leaving at the end of August 2020 and new professors have been hired to take over.

Is there’s a reason for this and do you know how this will affect incoming students and/or program structure?

I have heard many of these new professors are not even CRNAs. Good luck to anyone going here...

It's not a short, straight-forward reason, but if you are an incoming student, I'm sure that information would be shared with you if you asked a professor or upperclassman. The structure won't be changing and the incoming class won't be affected at all being that each of you won't be going through any "change" like we are. We were quite comfortable with our professors on a personal level, as well as academically. They have high expectations, but we knew what those expectations were. We knew their style of exams, etc. It will be an adjustment for us, but literally no adjustment for the incoming class since y'all won't know any differently.
The new professors are all CRNAs with teaching experience (per accrediting requirements LOL). I read so much nonsense on allnurses before getting into anesthesia school. Take everything with a grain of salt on here. You will be just fine! Union is a great university and I'm thankful to be here.
Thank you!
I plan on applying this cycle for next year. Hopefully things will work out just as planned with the transition.

I just saw a facebook post about a prospective student who got their acceptance rescinded for being openly gay and planning to live with their significant other...
Something to consider. It's a very ugly look for the school if it's true.

They are out of compliance with the COA- the accreditation standards state programs must not discriminate. The standards specifically list sexual orientation as a characteristic that cannot be discriminated against. I’m amazed at their lack of awareness.

I am COA site reviewer and so is one of the new Union faculty. They have religious exemptions that apply to accrediting organizations as well per the department education. I’m amazed at how you THINK you aware of something that you are not. And the anesthesia program wasn’t even involved. It was graduate housing and university student life. He knew the rules, we all signed them....he broke the rules. What did he expect?
