Hello everyone. I have been reading discussion on this site for the past few years. Ive finally decided to come here to vent and get some advice. My manager asked me to work every Monday night on this schedule, while still doing two 7a-8p shifts. We do 13 hour shifts at my facility. She claims that the night nurses that she has can not work Monday nights. These nurses do not have young children, but just "prefer" not to work Monday night. I have a one year old child. I agreed to work the shift, but only be because she said I would work Monday night and then come back on a Thursday or Friday.
Well she didn't make the schedule out that way. She has working every wedensday morning. They only gives me one day off. I will sleep most of that day. I worked like this last week and was utterly exhausted and disoriented. When I asked her if I could have some time to thin about working Monday night she said no I have to get the schedule out. Then she stared going on about making it "mandatory". This manager also asks me to cover a night shift whenever she has a call out. She does not ask the other nurses. I've only been at this job a few months.
I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. What do you guys think? Should I suck it up or seek other employment? Sorry this is so disjointed! Your feedback is appreciate.
Where did I state that I want gravy shifts? You know what they say about assumptions. I SIMPLY meant that having one day off, which I sleep away until 4 pm, along with taking care of a child, exacerbates the exhaustion that is to be expected from a pm to am rotation like Monday night-wedensday am.
The original post was bad enough, but your responses are over the top. Telling people to get medication and get counseling due to responding to your absurd replies, indicates you can't see you are a a problem right now. How you are responding on here, could be coming out with your manager and could be why you are being pressed to work Mondays. I honestly think you need to reflect on how you are coming off here and why people are on the attack. So you work Monday and then on Wednesday. Stay up as long as you can on Tuesday and care for your child. It isn't the end of the world. Plenty of people work nights, go to school and then back that night. If anyone here needs a Snickers, it is you my friend. Eat the Snickers before you reapproach your manager and for your own sake, tone it down a notch before you end up shooting yourself in the foot and losing a job.

Before, my theory that OP's manager was trying to be rid of them was just that........a theory.
The last few responses by OP have cemented that theory as fact for me.
There is one thing though that makes me pause and say "You could be wrong."
That "thing" is the growing suspicion that OP doesn't have a child but in fact is one. What do you cyber types call it? A troll?
Give OP a few more responses and I'll probably change my mind to the troll theory.
Dismiss yourself. Your little comprehension skills suck. Who said my life was more important. You sound miserable. Go eat a snickers. You're not yourself when your hungry.
Yikes! I hope your account got hacked and these last few responses are not you. You were sounding like a reasonable person for a while, but now I wonder if the "wants to get rid of you" theory could be correct.
My employer actually does screw with peoples schedules when they want to drive them away ...but it's usually a switch to the opposite of what they're used to. Night shifters get suddenly placed on all days and day shifters get suddenly placed on all nights.
