UNF Summer 2015 BSN Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Anyone else applying to UNF accelerated/traditional BSN for summer 2015? I'd love to talk to anyone about the application, TEAS, stats, interview, etc. I'm already getting pretty antsy about the whole application process!

Thank you, SNA for checking up on us nervous hopefuls!

vglass, welcome to the thread! I know what you mean, this is so incredibly nerve racking! I am more nervous now than I was before I submitted my application haha. I applied to UCF and USF as well but UNF is definitely my first choice. You just don't see the same reactions from current students elsewhere when you ask them about their program. Did you apply anywhere else?

The TEAS was interesting... I scored an 80.7 and did not have time to retake the test so I'm just crossing my fingers that it is good enough! Personally, I felt that the science section was actually harder on the test than on the practice tests but that the English and reading comprehension were easier. Math seemed to be the same degree of difficulty to me. The science section was SO random, I really don't think I would have done better on it a second time around. What did everyone else think?

Also, the deadline is TOMORROW!!!! I am pretty sure last year they found out a little over 2 weeks after the deadline about the interviews so hopefully we can be that lucky :)

For the TEAS test I did the best on the Science section. Yes it was very broad based but there weren't any surprises. The math section for me seemed easier than on the sample test but I ran out of time on the test itself. From the different responses that I have read over the last couple months people do not seem to do a whole lot better taking the TEAS a second time. I was also unable to take it a second time.

Good Luck to all that have applied!

Hey guys!

I applied as well. I'm a little nervous looking at the stats from the past couple years. I have an 87% on the TEAS but I have an overall GPA of 3.467 and a pre-req GPA of 3.65. The 2 Bs I got in anatomy and microbio killed me since I took them in the same semester :-(

Good luck everyone, I'm excited to see where everyone ends up!

Hi, I am new to this forum and also applied for the Summer 2015 ABSN at UNF. I am thinking it is a long shot but still crossing my fingers. I have As in Microbiology and A&P but I got a couple of Bs in the ge area (psychology and statistics) from when I took them in 1998 so it is dragging my average down. I only got a 80 on TEAS (323 total). I am wondering if this is competitive enough to get an interview for at least the traditional route. If not, I will go back and repeat courses and the TEAS test before applying again. Good luck to everyone!

The deadline has passed! We know the real nerves kick in now! Get those last few months of freedom in and enjoy your family and friends :)

TEAS is a biggie. A great TEAS can usually offset an average GPA. It all depends on your applicant pool! Best of luck to all of you!!! Fingers crossed!

There's no harm in applying. I heard from a few people who got in with a 78% TEAS score but I was told by my advisor to shoot for 335 (83.7%). It all depends on the pool. I am also nervous and have been checking my email constantly. I got an 85% on my TEAS and my pre req GPA is 3.87Good luck!

I applied for the ABSN program too. I just received an email this morning, but it was only another reminder that I am in the candidate pool. The deadline for interview confirmation was moved up though to Feb 6th. I will continue to keep checking my email all day, everyday :) Good luck to everyone!

Do you know how they calculate the over all TEAS score? I thought that they added up all the percentages of each sections. So, for me, I got 92.9, 90, 75 (science blah), and 90. So, added up its a 347.9. But on the sheet it says I scored an 85.3 which if I multiplied by 4 (which is what some other people say to do), its only a 341.2. Huge difference!! Anyone know? and my overall gpa was a 3.8. How did everyone else do?? I am so nervous, I check my email all the time even though I know we wont hear anything for a little while longer. Did anyone apply to JU? I applied there and have an interview next week. With the 56k price tag though...yikes....

do you guys know how they calculate TEAS score? do you add up all the sections or do you take your percentage and multiply by 4?

and I don't know how to reply obviously without keep making a new thread!

Your score is 347.9. You add up your adjusted individual scores, 92.9, 90, 75, 90. Your GPA score is 380. Add up your TEAS score and your GPA score for a total of 727.9 out of 800. Difficult to tell how competitive one is because the applicant pool changes.

Hello to everyone in this thread. I'm glad I found you today. I applied to the ABSN and am waiting and crossing my fingers to get an interview invitation. I also read through a thread from last year and it sure seems that the waiting part before and after the interview is the most challenging part of this application process. Good luck to all of you on here :-)
