UNF Fall 2011 RPL Applicants

Published

Hello Everyone!

I am applying for UNF for Fall 2011 admission. Anyone else also applying for the Fall 2011 semester? Good luck to you all in your pursuits!

Kali

Are you in the program? I have a 4.0...I have heard that the interview is a BIG part of it!!

I've been accepted to the summer program, we start May 12th.

The interview is a HUGE part of the admission process. I also have a 4.0GPA, but if i had not done well in the interview then it wouldn't have mattered. People with 4.0GPAs have been turned down in the past...not sure of the exact numbers, but if you go through the numerous threads on here you will find more than one person venting about how they were declined with a 4.0GPA. Since the interview counts for half of the decision, all they have to do is give you a low score in the interview and you are out. Of course, the interviewers don't know your scores, so it's not like they will be factoring that in. The whole things boils down to whether or not they feel you have the traits that will make a great nurse and student.

Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.:)

HM2,

Congrats on your acceptance! :yeah:

Have they given you an idea of the cost at orientation? I know online it says around $2000 but I wasn't sure how accurate this was.

Kali

Kali....I got accepted with HM2 and I can tell you, it is WAY more expensive than $2000. That $2K is just for tuition the first semester. Books cost another $1100, then there is the background check, fingerprinting, drug test, physical, supplies, laptop (required), uniforms and much more. I figure it will total around $4500 for the first semester. After first semester, you won't spend as much because you buy most of the books up front and your uniforms last the entire program. You can save *some* money by buying used books and uniforms but it isn't cheap. However, it will all be worth it in the end.

Oh, and we don't have orientation until the week before classes start so we are all pretty much in the dark as to what are schedules will be.

Good luck to you!

Yeah, the math was pretty simple. Math was the one section where i got a 100% on.

711 is a pretty competitive score. For the summer class, the average score was 714 for those that got an interview invite. Sounds like you'll most likely get one as well. Good job!

HM2Doc, What were the average GPA and TEAS of interviewed applicants?

Yeah, it's way more than the quoted $2,000 or so. There are so many little things that you need to buy or get done before orientation, and it adds up quickly. If you don't have a laptop then you will be REQUIRED to buy one, so that will kick up the cost even more.

There are ways of cutting some of the costs, but it doesn't really help that much. I bought a few of the books used, but it didn't make too much of a difference. Also, some of the people in my class are buying their scrubs and uniforms from the graduating class, which is very cost effective. Personally, after having been in the healthcare field for 7 years and knowing what gets on scrubs (ie feces, urine, vomit, blood, pathogens, etc.), i think i'll buy a fresh set of uniforms...plus, i'm 6'4" and it's not like i could buy a used pair even if i wanted to. :lol2:

HM2Doc, What were the average GPA and TEAS of interviewed applicants?

The average GPA for those invited to the interview was a 3.77. I'm not sure what the average TEAS score was. I got an 88.7%, if that helps any. :)

The average TEAS of those invited to interview was 336.

The average TEAS of those invited to interview was 336.

Did you get that by doing the following: 714 - (average GPA x 100)= 337? I figured that might of been right, but i wasn't sure and didn't want to post erroneously.

The average GPA and TEAS scores were stated on our interview letters. Yes, I kept mine :D

:brnfrt: Oh yeah, it is on there. Durr :smackingf

lol, i kept mine too. Thanks to my wife it's now being proudly displayed on the fridge. :)

Hi all! I also applied to UNF's RPL program for Fall. After reading this thread, though, I'm a bit concerned that I won't even be considered for an interview. I have my AA degree and my GPA is 4.0, but I really didn't do well on the TEAS compared to all of you. I scored at 71.3% (275 points). So that along with my GPA only brings me to 675 points. I took the TEAS last minute because I chose to apply last minute (rather than wait another year); so I was pretty 'rusty' to put it mildly. I just got my scores today (I meant it when I said "last minute" lol). Nice to meet all of you, and the information all of you have been posting is very helpful! Thank you :)

You could always try for UCF as well. You may be able take it again through them. I think UNF only allows one try...not sure though.

Not saying that 675 is low and that you don't stand a chance, because that's not the case. Every semester the cutoff scores change, so you never know. I would still have plan B school though, just to be safe.
