Anybody else out there applying for UNF for the fall?? Less than a month left to get all of the paperwork in order. I'm so afraid of missing something!! I think all I have left to do is submit my summer schedule and my spring expected grade papers from the classes I'm taking now. Pre-reqs (nearly) done, TEAS taken, supplemental app submitted.....
Hadn't seen a post yet for the fall, so I figured I'd start and see if anybody out there was sitting on their hands, waiting for May!!
Yeah, it's in the prelicensure FAQ:How can I prepare for the interview?
Candidates who are currently enrolled at the University of North Florida are highly encouraged to consult with the Career Services Office and to work with their liaison for the Brooks College of Health to complete a mock interview. The current liaison is ..... (these details are on the website)
Those who do not actively attend UNF are encouraged to consult with his or her home institution’s career services office for interview pointers and potential mock interviews. Candidates can also work with family members and friends to “mock” interview.
Ok thanks!
anyone find a good site for practice questions?
There is a thread on this site that has tons of sample questions!
https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/interview-questions-88629.html
Also if you use the search feature at the top and put UNF Interview in the box, you will get some past year threads and people recount all of the information they can remember from their interviews!! I don't think they reuse questions but it is a help to see what they did ask to get you thinking.
Good luck everyone!!!
Breathe!!! I started fall 2012. My best piece of advice is to not be too reheorificed! Don't memorize what you're going to say. They will see right through it. Be yourself, it's ok to talk about other things than nursing. They want to see your personality too! Dress professional-suit or dress or what not. Jeans and/or flip flops are not ok! Brush your hair and smile :-) don't compete with the others in your group-instead feed off of them and make it a civilized and well organized interview. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Best of luck and get ready for the ride of your life! This program is no joke!!
I'm freaking out. I also wish that I could participate fromt he mock interview. I've read sample questions that I've come across from google but they are all the same. Friday is right around the corner. I've started writing up what to say but like samiam856 said, I don't want to sound too reheorificed. It's all nerves!! I swear, I cannot wait until this is over and I get a final decision.
Does anyone know what the classes are like? What does "full-time" mean? Mon-Fri? Is it all day thing? Are classes assigned to us or do we still pick which ones we take? I have no idea how all that happens...(Thinking about my current job and how I'm gonna work around that)
My interview time is at 9:30. And jut so you know, just because you have the same time slot does not mean you will be in the same interview group. You'll be split up and given a number in which you will sit in a smaller group with current nursing students. However, you could get lucky! I applied this past summer and got an interview. The most intimidating time will be your drive there. Trust me. They do their best to comfort you and, for the most part, it works. In the actual interview room it really feels like you're just have a conversation with a group of friends. If you have interviewers that are positive and want to be there, they'll even have you laughing. You're going to be nervous, but once you get done, you're going to think "wow, that was fast and easy." Just practice some answers and be sure to have a question to ask at the end.
Also, like samiam856 said, don't have the mind set that the people in your group are your competitors. It could end up that all of you make it in, or two of you, or none of you. Think of them as your classmates. And think of the interviewers as one person (although be sure to make eye contact with each of them). They will each ask one question at a time, but think of them as one teacher and that you're in a regular classroom in a regular class and your teacher asks the class a question and it becomes a class discussion. Just be sure not to interrupt or talk while another person is talking. It's a casual conversation.
Hi Everyone!
I'm sure I saw you all today but I could not remember anyone's names and it's hard to put a name with a face you've never seen. I thought the overall interview process was really easy but I felt like they couldn't really get an overall picture of who am I based on the questions they asked. I guess I was expecting more questions pertaining to the past and how I have become who I am and how that ties into nursing and etc. Ah well, best of luck to everyone and I hopefully we will all get to meet each other formally, in August!
