UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

@GoVeg

So your TEAS was today, wasn't it?

Good?

Bad?

:)

Unfortunately it was :( I took the paper/pencil test so I won't get my results until tomorrow at the earliest but I didn't feel very confident walking out. I did pretty well on my practice tests (I was scoring 90's on all the practice tests, I studied A LOT) but I think nerves got to me yesterday. I also didn't eat before my test (big mistake!) which was at 10:30 so I was starving halfway through it! I felt like a couldn't think straight during it. I'm really scared about this because I spent so much time studying and know I could have done well but when I walked in there I just really felt like I couldn't do anything. I'm hoping it was all just nerves and I'm just psyching myself out but we'll see! I'll let you know how I did when I find out tomorrow :)

Does UNF have a minimum or is it just ranking? I have a strong prereq GPA so I don't have to do amazing to get 680 points.

GoVeg - I can totally identify with your test day struggles. The night before I took the TEAS V I went ahead and did one more practice test. (I know you are not suppose to study the night before but I was obsessing on it anyway and decided to make good use of my nervous energy) I scored 359 on that practice test. Then when I started my reading section on the real test I was really struggling with nerves. I ended up scoring lower in reading and grammar than I did in my practice tests. I missed some things that I never miss. My end score was a 337. But I am fairly certain that score is still competitive along with my 4.0 pre-req gpa.

You probably did better than you think even though you were hungry and foggy. UNF states that they don't have a minimum. Pretty sure they take the top "x"-number of folks when the scores and gpas are added up.

honeybadgerdontcare - I am like you, applying for the regular prelicensure BSN. I've also had a few days were I was a little OCD about my transcripts, scores, etc...

Have you taken your TEAS? Were you happy with your scores?

I just scanned and emailed my supplemental application. The last thing on the check list. Woo-Hoo :)

So do you have to have a bachelors degree to apply to the accelerated program?

So do you have to have a bachelors degree to apply to the accelerated program?

Yes. This is a requirement for any Accelerated BSN program statewide (and I'm assuming nationwide).

Juliesnow-

I was pretty happy with my TEAS score, although I lost focus by the end-94 AIS/376 total, which I think is fairly competitive. I didn't think it was too bad, and most of the mistakes I made were really careless and later on in the test when I started running out of steam. My lowest section was English, where I scored highest on the practice tests. I'm so glad I got it over with in like, September (in the first round of testing dates) so I didn't have to spend months stressing and obsessing.

94 is a great score! I received my score today and ended up with an AIS of 91.3 :) I am very happy with that. I was convinced that I had done a lot worse but I guess it was just my nerves :)

Math - 90

English and Language - 96.7

Total = 366.8

Prereq GPA - 3.92 (once my nutrition and micro grades are evaluated)

"Fairly competitive" is a gross understatement. You knocked it out of the park! Way to go Honeybadger! With a score like that you didn't miss much at all. ;)

Jenny-GoVeg-Honeybadger - you all did so well on your TEAS V - congrats to you. I must confess, however, that seeing your scores has my nerves up all over again. But I feel a little better having checked some of the other blogs. One girl got in with a total score of 702. My total sits at 737 so hopefully there is hope for me yet.

Best of luck to each of you :)

Do any of you guys still have an immunization hold on your application audit? I just want to make sure that's not due by the 15th too. SO paranoid there's going to be some sort of snafu...
