UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

Hi everyone - I am applying to the regular program for summer 2013. I took my TEAS yesterday [and I am taking the NAT tomorrow for FSCJ, but they are not my first choice]. I cannot seem to stop myself from pouring over all the UNF blogs on this site. Just trying to figure out how competitive I am. I've seen postings from folks with lower scores than mine get the nod, and some folks with higher scores get rejected. So it seems once the pre-reqs and TEAS is over (assuming you've gotten an invite for an interview) then the interview is the make it or break it event. Good luck to all of you getting ready to take the TEAS V - study, study, study.

Good luck!!! Did you study a lot for it?

No, due to the fact that I was in some very time-consuming classes this semester + my full time job, I'm afraid I did not. However considering my minimal prep I did decent, yet, not as ideal as I would like to be super competitive. Science section destroyed me in particular. :( I can only hope my prereq GPA will help balance it out. :(

Well, I'm glad you did okay. The UNF FAQ says that they base interview invites off 50% prereqs and 50% teas so I'm sure your prereqs can balance it out. I've also heard a lot of people complain about the science section so you're not alone there! I take mine on January fifth and am really nervous. I have time to study though so I hope I do well

I just got done with my TEAS V.

357.7 Total Points TEAS V (high compared to the average of those previously offered interviews which was 335-345)

My Prereq GPA is 3.1125 (low compared to the average of those previously offered interviews which is 3.7-3.8)

357.70 TEAS V

+ 311.25 Prereq GPA

668.95 Total Points of 800 total possible points to interview

I hope that 668.95 points is enough to get offered an interview. I will let everyone know if that happens or not. I am glad that GPA is only 15% of the score after the interview since mine isn't that awesome.

Good luck everyone!

@kristinhope-- Where do you find info on this 800 points to interview? Have a link?

I mean, I have seen links to the average TEAS scores that are competitive for UNF interviews, but I have yet to see something that specifies an 800 point scale including GPA. Would love to see more if you have it? Thanks. :)

Well I didn't see 800 points, although I swear I did before. It says 50% TEAS V points (up to 400) and 50% prerequisite GPA. I swear I read on one of those links above that you just take your prerequisite GPA and multiply by 100. So if you have a 3.5 GPA that is 350 points. Then they will rank the applicants in order of points. Those with the most points will get offered interviews for however many slots.

Maybe I am wrong but I swear I read that somewhere. Please correct me if I am wrong. :)

Good job on the TEAS Kristin! Your score is making me nervous! I take mine this Saturday. I've been doing okay on the practice tests but some of the science questions have been a little out there. I'm also dyslexic so anything that has to do with spelling I get wrong :/. I'm hoping there won't be much of that on there.

Anyways, I also read the 800 thing some where. Your score seems pretty good though. The scores they post are only averages so even if you're a little below I think you have a good shot!

I know I saw 800 points mentioned somewhere on the UNF website, as well as in threads on here.

I figured I'd pop in and say hi, even though I'm applying for the regular prelicensure BSN program for summer. I figure that with the application deadline all of 12 days away, I can't be the only nervous wreck around here!

I'm certainly not obsessively reloading MyWings waiting for my fall grades (the last of my prerequisites) to show up. *cough*

Though I'd hardly consider this official since it's not linked from UNF's website, I did find this little blurb at

Points System for UNF Accelerated School of Nursing and Admissions Stats

Take your GPA and multiply by 100. Then take each individual part of the TEAS score and add that to the total. The maximum is 800. For summer 2010, the cutoff for interviews was 680. This number changes every year. Because the TEAS V is now required, the cutoff may be a little lower for 2011 and later.

^Granted that's over a year old, but, gives you something to go on.

I just got done with my TEAS V.

Nicely done on your TEAS btw, I would have killed for a score like that. :( Best of luck to you for an interview. :D
