yes I am in gainesville ill be graduating in may from UF but im also from gainesville. im assuming youre at UF too? do you happen to be an HEB major?

Anyone interested in a roommate for the summer at UNF? I was thinking that maybe subleasing a place would be a good idea until I get a feel for the area and how close we all need to be to campus. There seem to be quite a few places available. I'm interested in a furnished place very close to UNF. I visited Jacksonville today, looking for a furnished one bedroom but am having a hard time finding one. Two bedrooms seem to be much more popular. In fact, I found a place at The Flats on Kernan (NOT The District-which I hear is party central). Check out the website but its very nice and everything included. Your half would be $699.

I'm married and my husband will be staying in Gainesville so I plan on traveling home every weekend so I can assure you I'm a great roommate! ;-)

Aboo2488- I graduated from UF but in Communications awhile back. I've lived and worked in Gainesville for the past seven years.

ok so clearly I have not gotten the hang of this posting stuff hahahaha but my intentions were good!!! :lol2:

gatorkf, I am also looking for a roomate as well. I tried to figure out how to PM you but idk if you can do that on here?.. anyways I also plan on going home most weekends. maybe we could work something out? im graduating this semester. I dont know how much ill be able to afford yet because im going to have to use financial aid and i havent heard back about it.

And for you guys looking for roommates-I am too!! I am moving up from Delray Beach, FL. My roommate from college lives in Jax and she said to either live in the southside area (by unf) or at the beaches. I'd like to live close to school, so I've been doing a ton of research on apartment buildings! I looked at the flats at kernan too, but I read a lot of reviews that the walls are really thin and the kids that are living there now tend to be loud into the late hours...of everywhere I checked out I think Citigate Apartments seems like the best. They are right down the street from school, here's the website http://www.citigatejax.com. There are 2 bedrooms/2 baths for 1050 and 3 bedrooms/2 baths for 1400. I'm a 26 yr. old single girl, my boyfriend will be living in chicago getting his MBA so we'll be doing long distance this year. Either he'll be down or I'll be gone one wkend of each month. Other than that I am a bubbly person and like to have fun on the wkends, but take my studies really seriously during the week and can't get by on less than 8 hrs of sleep! I've been checking out gyms too, it would be fun to have roomies to work out with! And by fun on the wkends, I mean going out to eat, drinking wine, and occasionally cocktails poolside! This place has a great pool btw! :yeah: I am hoping to find roomies who have living room furniture as I really only have bedroom furniture! :uhoh3: Soooo if anyone is interested...let me know!!

Im interested although i would prefer something fully furnished so i do not have to worry about moving/finding furniture. Ill be in the regular program and im graduating from UF this semester. Im 22 and dont plan on doing much besides studying sleeping and working out hopefully!

Well, sounds like I may be the "oldie" of the group at 30 ;-)

Its hard looking at places on the computer. I feel like everywhere I checked out had some bad reviews and you may be right- The Flats is close to campus so its 'student apartment living' but its .5 miles from campus and 1.4 miles door to door to our classes! That appeals to me, especially on days when biking might be an option. Shuttles also leave every 15 min. from the apt so saving on buying a parking decal is a plus. Its also only a year old so its in good shape. At this point, my plan may be to sublease for the summer to get my bearings on Jacksonville and see what other options are out there. Then in August, when I feel like I have a handle on the area, I'll sign a lease for the remainder of my time. I feel like everything is happening so fast! :uhoh3:

CW2649- that place you mentioned does look gorgeous! My problem is I have a fully furnished home in Gainesville and a beach house in Ormond. I can't imagine buying new furniture all over again just for a year :-( But I was tempted when I saw the website! ;-)

We all sound alot alike. I work out daily, love my sleep and need to study hard! I'm laid back and very easy going. Live music outdoors with good beer or a glass of wine is my perfect evening. I went ahead and joined the facebook group listed which may be an easier way for us all to communicate...

Congrats to everyone!! Can't say I'll be doing much besides sleep, school, and working out. Find any good gyms? I'm not a fan of the UNF student wellness center. I've been doing CrossFit in Naples, but it's expensive so can't continue that regime in Jax. I was hoping to get into the Accelerated program, but was placed in the regular track. I'm happy to get in though since it was so competitive and UNF was my first choice. I graduated in May 2009 from UM so I'm glad to hear we're all around the same age! Citigate looks really nice. When I was in Jax for my interview I looked at tons of apartments (loved 54 Magnolia and Amelia Island) but nothing in my price range for a 1/1. My boyfriend lives in Jax off 9A. He'll be gone for the summer so I'll be living in his place with his sister who works in Jax until I figure out the best location for where we'll be going for clinicals, etc. I called One Stop today to ask about financial aid because I haven't heard anything. Had to file a FAFSA for my 2008 taxes just to get aid for this summer. I'm dreading applying for loans so that's certainly an incentive to save some money over the summer until I find a place to call home.
