Unemployed and CEU'S

Published

I am from Arkansas, and have been unemployed since December 2008 due to an illness. I am currently looking to go back to work as a nurse(LPN) but have had no luck, thusfar, finding anyone to hire me. My quesion is, I know your CEU'S have to be based on what field of nursing you are in, but what if you are unemployed? Can I just do any type of CEU'S? I have looked on my BON web site with no luck.

Hi,

I live here in California, it's been hard too. I just graduated from RN program and was LVN before. I am getting more job offers as LVN than RN. Just send your Resume on Career Builder, Monster, I am telling you, it works. Try agency also, it's not the best. Now I am getting calls, I just prey that I land a job as RN. Don't give up, some times we have to push a little more. I was even considering moving out of the state!!!!

Actually, your CEU's don't have to be based upon what type of nursing you practice unless your BON has some specific requirements. I just checked the web page for Arkansas, you just have to have practice related classes, total of 15 hours. Link: http://www.petsit.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/304347/page/1

so this may be an opportunity to take classes in an area of nursing you're interested in. FYI, a company I"ve used when I needed classes quick is Anderson Continuing education...they issue your certificate the day you fax the answer sheet...I don't work for them so I don't get a referral or anything, I just used them when I was a travel nurse, made it easy to get quick CEU's.
