It doesn't seem like you finished an undergraduate degree yet. That will really limit your choices for Accelerated BSN programs because most of them require you to have graduated already.
There are many ABSN schools. When I was doing it in 2006 I looked at many schools and the lowest accepted GPA I ever found was 2.8. Vast majority require at least 3.0 minimum. So you need to start hitting it hard and get the GPA to at least 3.0. Also may as well start taking the prereqs now.
Like Miiki stated, you need to be graduated by the time the nursing program starts. I'm not sure what year you are in college, but if you're a sophomore, you should consider apply right now instead of doing 2 more years of school in a degree you don' want-- you'll finish in the same amount of time.
On that note, University of Rochester has an ABSN program and I believe NYU does as well.
Are you interested in nursing to be a nurse or nursing because of the possibility being an NP....as "shorter" path to independent practice? NCLEX isn't a high score test its a pass/fail. Some pass with 75 questions while others will pass with 265 questions. There are schools that have higher pass rates than others and that information should be available on the BON website. Nursing schools are very competitive and most require a minimal 3.0 GPA but higher for the sciences.
You only qualify for an accelerated degree with a previous Bachelors degree in another area of studies.
Yes...that is it. I would add when I was applying 3.0 was the normal minimum, but really the higher the GPA in your first bachelors the much more benefit that adds. If you are at minimums for all the GPAs it may be a little harder to get in. Exceed those minimums if you can! Also do other things..for me I was a veteran and that helped. Also I did volunteer work. Good luck!

Hi, so here my little story. I started out as a pre-med student and did not know how serious college was until i took chemistry(which i think happens to a lot of us, especially working a full time job). I am now very interested in nursing after reading more about it and im very interested in applying for an accelerated nursing program. I am almost finished with my pre reqs now, all i have to take is A+P2, micro bio lab and statistics. My GPA isn't that great but it is because i got an F in chemistry freshman year but sophomore and now my junior year, I have improved my grades a lot. I will retake my chemistry class which will help boost my GPA. I was wondering if there is any advice from anyone? I am looking for accelerated programs either in my state(NY) or out of state. I would love a school with a good chance of acceptance as well as high grade percentage on Nclex. Any suggestions, tips, advice? Thank you so much!
