I passed the California Nclex last October 2008, i took the exam here in my country, I received mail coming from the California BON asking for my SSN# and said that i should give them my SSN# within 3 years but in case i won't be able to, my application would be considered abandoned and my files will be destroyed.
It's been a year now and i worry that i won't be able to go to California to get my SSN#, and claim my license.
Does this mean that i have to take the California Nclex again, if ever i won't be able to give them my SSN# within the 3 years?
Thank you in a advance.

All you have is a pass letter stating that you have passed the NCLEX. Unfortunately you don't have a license since you don't have a ss#. In order to keep your file active, you might want to consider forwarding your NCLEX results to a state that doesn't require a ss# for them to issue you a license. Yes, there are some states that don't require a ss# for you to have your license. Keep in mind some don't require a ss# for initial licensure, but will require it for renewal. Good Luck

If your file is destroyed then you will loose your file and NCLEX results meaning you will have to apply again and sit the exam. As said in previous post you may want to consider application to another state, you can also ask for an extension with CA nearer the time of expiry.
Suggest a good search as this has been asked and answered several times in this forum

yeah its true that your application will be void after 3 years if you cant get an SS#..im applying for the same state also using an agency and they advice me to endorse my license to other state where they don't require SS#..If you want i can refer you or you can visit that agency for more advice.

i think the admin can correct me..but if u wanted to endorse to another state i do believe NY does not require a ss#, could be an option.
good luck.

Just to clarify, you are not "endorsing to" another state, because licensure by endorsement requires that you have an active nursing license and, in this case, there is no license. You are applying for licensure by examination in another state, and asking California to send your NCLEX results to the other state.
