Hi, anybody out there applying for the BSN May cohort for 2012?
I am! I live in California right now but plan is to relocate to NC in the future so if I get accepted, guess we'll be moving next year!
No problem! So after being rejected I called UNC to review my application which I would suggest for anyone to do if you don't happen to get in. Basically she said there were positive and negatives to my application. The positives being that I currently and for the past 4 years have been living in Spain, so I got a little check for foreign experience and another language. I also am a teacher here and that was a positive and that I had a lot of experience ( I was a nurse aid at a peds clinic for 2 years in college). The negatives she said was that I made a C in Stats. She strongly hinted that I would not have much of a chance with this grade if I was to apply again without retaking it. She also talked about my essays and that they needed to be developed more. I guess when I wrote them the first time I was writing them more to the point and resume like and they want more descriptive etc. Hope this helps!
Update - I just called the admissions office and the nice guy on the phone told me that EVERYBODY'S letters were mailed this afternoon (undergrad or not). He said the status on the portal probably won't change until Friday or next week. OMG.
sayitsso, are you in undergrad at UNC? I'm under the impression that your letter goes to your home address regardless of being on campus or not... although I know last year they emailed the undergrads and told them they could pick their letters up from the nursing school in person.
I found out the # of applicants, etc, from the admissions chat online (they are always super helpful). And not to freak everybody out/be a total Debbie Downer, but I would steel yourself if you are a second degree student. The chat person told me they give way more preference to undergrads doing the major than they do for second degree students for the BSN cycle. UGH. Of course that made me want to throw up b/c I am second degree! Trying to think positive, but I think I know what size envelope I'll be getting... I just need to know already so I can move on!
So the undergrads could pick up their letters in person, just like last year. But I still think the rest of the letters were mailed today because the guy I spoke to in admissions seemed 100% certain they were mailed this afternoon. This mail system seems crazy... why don't they just put decisions up on the portal for everybody first? That would make a lot more sense!
