UNC Chapel Hill Fall 2022 BSN

Published

Hey everyone, I wanted to start this thread for anyone applying to unc’s BSN program for the upcoming fall 2022 cohort. Applications are due in a week and I’m so nervous.

Anxiously awaiting the day when we hear...

Does anyone know what the acceptance rate for the program is like? Most state schools where I'm from have a range between 6-10% acceptance.

I think we should hear back around the first week of March, the wait is excruciating. As for the acceptance rate,I honestly have no clue. Some people have told me that it’s more so a 25% acceptance rate but who knows for sure? I guess it depends on how many applicants there are this year. The school stressed that they do holistic admissions which is great, so I am hoping that my CNA experience and volunteerism is enough to pull through. Where are you from? That is terrifyingly competitive.

I'm from CA, really the best chances here are with the private schools. Often the public schools don't consider resumes, volunteer experiences or even direct healthcare experience unless it is LVN/LPN, EMT, sometimes CNA. Even with 4.0 GPA and highest TEAS scores people don't get in. It comes down to factors outside of academic performance/experience in the field. It is definitely discouraging, hopefully we hear back the first week of March!

That really sucks. Hopefully we both make it though! Next week can't come fast enough.

I was in contact with admissions and they said middle of March, hopefully we'll hear sooner!

I hope so. The wait is driving me crazy LOL

I was expecting to hear this past Tuesday since decisions had previously been released the first week of March. I'm really hoping they release decisions today.

Same here. I thought we would have at least heard something by yesterday. Hopefully they send them out today I can’t wait another week. Is this your first time applying to the program?

This is my 2nd time applying. Got waitlisted the first time around

Oh okay, I hope you’ll make it this time. I was feeling confident when I submitted my application but now I feel like my stats aren’t enough. I have CNA experience and the volunteer hours to hopefully balance my GPA out. It’s so hard to know what the perfect formula is to getting accepted since they claim it’s all holistic.

Good luck to you. If this round doesn't work out then I'm going to pursue the ABSN route. We'll get there one way or another.
