Just seeking any advice for the application process.. Looking to complete my application for the 2015 Fall semester for UMSON @ Shady Grove. I just took my TEAS and got an overall 90.7. My cumulative GPA is currently 3.4 without this current semester (this semester will bring it up b/c my current is a 3.9).
I have read that UMSON is more based on the overall package rather than just the good grades.. I would love any input on that, and maybe suggestions for when I do fill in my application and essay.
Thanks for the info rayoflight! Oh no, my friend was going to take it 30 days after he took it but 60 days would take it past the application deadline for him! I took it back in October so I think I may just take it again this coming month. Did you finish the application yet?
I completed my application and have gotten all the supplemental documents in, I started working on my essays back in September lol, I hope they are good enough. I had writers block too! The best thing to do I think is just let it all out, with no limit to your word count. Get your thoughts down on paper no matter how dumb it may sound. Once you get the essence of your essay, then you have something to work off of.
About the question regarding TEAS scores, you have to wait 60 days between taking the test, however as long as they have your scores on the due date you're set. I went to an info session for the traditional BSN program at shady grove and the woman told us that since the scores are sent electronically you could (hypothetically) take the TEAS the same day the application is due. Though they don't recommend waiting so last minute.
Just checked and saw that too. I doubt the deadline has changed, maybe they don't want to advertise it anymore because of the amount of applicants they received up to this point? Really not sure.
Hey guys, I'm new here! I'm very nervous about this process. I applied for Shady Grove campus, which should not be too competitive, but I feel like everyone did really well on the TEAS...I'm so scared, but I really wanna get into the nursing program.
OMG thank you littlemango! I just asked a question on your Spring 2015 post and you really helped answer alot of my questions. One thing though. I pulled up the prerequisite course list online and I was wondering if there was any leniency on that or is everything set in stone? I will definitely be taking Chemistry in the Spring(didn't need it where I am now since I took it in HS YEARS ago but now we might be stationed at Ft Meade) and I'll also be taking Sociology. So that leaves me with a couple courses I may have to take depending on what they accept with my transfers.
The pereqs are what's required. At a glance, and hypothetically speaking, if you apply for Spring 2016, then all prereqs must be completed prior to the start of the program which in this case would be Fall 2015
I took the TEAS twice and still received an 80. I am sure I'm overthinking the questions because while the first time I took the exam I did not study I received a 70. The second time I actually studied and received an 80. I was so hurt because I really thought I did better than that. I was waited listed for the Spring so I really hope I get in this time around.
I applied to Shady Grove as well!! Hopefully we will be classmates.
Little mango, and Kristen were very helpfully last time around so Im glad to see them still helping out even though they are in the program. 😊😊😊 I've followed the Facebook group they created religiously as well as checked Surfs.
