UMSON DNP FALL 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello UM hopefuls! I have submitted an application to University of MD DNP program for Fall 2018. I saw that my application has recently changed from "Ready for Review" to "Committee Ready". Any word for any interviews at this time!!??

See you then mermaid_rn!!!

I'm in. See you all soon to be Shady Grover's!

Did anyone have problem paying the deposit?

Yes! There was no "confirmation" at the end of the transaction (on the page they sent me to). I ended up attaching a screenshot of my payment confirmation email and they seemed to figure it out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did they provide you with your student ID number? I tried to login to Surf, but I don't have the ID number.

Hmm, the website sent me to a different payment site that didn't require an I D number - but once I got my acceptance from filled out, they sent me an ID number a week later.( I think?)

My mailed acceptance letter had my ID number printed at the top. I went to UMD for undergrad though so maybe that's why? It should also be the same as the application number on surfs!

On an unrelated note, is anyone planning on working while completing the program? I am not sure what to expect in terms of managing my schedule. I wanted to do the program full time and work 1-2 days a week if possible. Has anyone heard how feasible that is?

Congrats @mermaid_rn! What specialty are you going for? I will also be starting this Fall for the Psych NP.

My colleague at work is currently in her second year. She works at least 2 nights/week. Mostly weekends. Sometimes she calls out if the school workload is much, I guess. Overall, she said it is very feasible to combine both at this time.

I just got interview that will happen on 3/28 for FNP. Who can help to give any suggestion how to prepare for this interview? Thanks

Hello, May i ask was psych experience required for this program,if so, about how much? Thanks

Hi jnorth. I'm curious if you have been accepted into a AGACNP/AGCNS program? University of Maryland has been recommended by my employer, but, I don't know anything about the school. I'm not having luck finding many comments about this program. Thank you.

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to those who were accepted into their respective programs! I am currently entering my 3rd year of the PMHNP program at UMSON (according to the 5yr plan of study). If you were accepted into this program, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have!

If you are not familiar with the HPSP scholarship, offered through the Air Force, Army, and Navy, I would highly suggest you research the scholarship.

It is a great way to have your tuition, books, and clinical fees paid in full for the duration of 3yrs of full-time study. The scholarship also provides a monthly stipend of $2, 400 per month while you are in school (this allows you to work part-time, or per diem as opposed to full-time). If you are intetested in learning more about the scholarship, I would be happy to answer your questions. As someone who combed the internet thoroughly to find more information about the application process, specifically as it pertained to NP's, I can confidently say there is a dearth of updated information available online. Fortunately, I was recently awarded the HPSP scholarship for PMHNP's through the Air Force, and I am now in the position to share my experiences with anyone who wants to know more about the scholarship. If you are interested in applying to a different branch or specialty, I will answer your questions to the best of my ability, but my experience with the HPSP is specific to the Air Force. I also have it on good authority that the AF is actively trying to recruit HPSP applicants for the PMHNP field, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Feel free to respond to my comment, or send me a PM!

Good luck with your studies everyone and welcome to the University! UMSON is a great school with a dedeicated faculty; I know you won't be disappointed with your choice :)
