Anyone else receive anything regarding scholarships?

Nora, good question!  I wish that I had filled out the Conway application.  It's taken a little bit of time to build up my confidence.  I'm hoping that it's not too late to apply for some of the smaller scholarships.

As far as I know, those who will be attending UMSON apart of USG have other scholarship opportunities. If I'm not mistaken, there should be a scholarship application on USG's website.

Hey guys here is the link to the facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/265620934846130/?ref=share

Hey! Congrats everyone who got accepted!

I'm currently a 3rd sem student at USG. I just got a notification that the new cohort will have online orientation first week of December. There will be some student panelist so get ready to ask questions.

If someone can start a new facebook group for your incoming cohort with the full-time student expected graduation date: "UMSON-USG class of Fall 2022." This allows you all to start connecting with each other and peer leaders from upper semesters.

Edit: Sorry realized the link IS for the new cohort. FYI the cohort names are usually expected date of graduation so "UMSON-USG Class of Fall 2022" to avoid confusion.

@OhKay  Thanks for the clarification! I just changed the name to UMSON- USG class of Fall 2022 ?

For those of you who got accepted to the Baltimore campus and are commuting, will you guys be living in the city near school or somewhere a bit further away? I'm moving from out of state and it hasn't been easy to find a good place to move to

Is there a facebook page for Baltimores campus starting in the Spring?

@RJK13Seems like more ppl on here are going to SG than Baltimore. I was hoping somebody made a fb page for baltimore too

I created one for Baltimore if anyone is interested!

I’m applying for Fall 2022. Any suggestions on my application? What are my chances of getting in? I have 0 volunteer hours, 0 shadowing hours, & 0 medical experience. I have a 3.5 GPA as of RN, a 80% on the TEAS exam. I have done really good on all my science classes. I have also taken physics 1& physics 2 & chem 2 & got an A for those. But my application is not outstanding. My recomm. letter will be weak...?

How do you know that your application will be weak? With those A's, didn't you have some science professors who loved you? I did not have any medical experience either. If you don't get in this time, consider taking Pathophysiology at the Germantown campus of Montgomery College. If you take the section taught by Abdulai Barrie, M.D., he loves writing recommendations for hard-working students. He has sent many students to Shady Grove / UMSON.

My recommender actually told me that my chances would be higher if I had experience. Most of my classes have been online & I’ve only really “voluntarily” participated in one class. & Is Montgomery college a community college? If yes then I guess I will have to wait until Spring 2023 because the priority deadline is December 15 for Fall??‍♀️

Got it. Don't wait to apply if you have your prerequisites done, but you can always strengthen your application for next time if it doesn't work out. I can see why recommendations can be tough if they have been online. What does "voluntarily" participate mean? Even in online classes, unless they are asynchronous, you can volunteer answers, ask thoughtful questions, and hang out in your professor's office hours!  Best of luck!
