Do any of you guys still check this? I applied to UMHB kind of last minute. I'm hoping to get into for Fall 2016. I have a bachelors of science in Physiology, a 3.3 gpa and am only missing public speaking as a pre-requisite. My husband just recently got stationed at Fort Hood and I took the Kaplan (I studied for one month while working full time and taking 4 pre-req courses) and scored a 78% (they let you use a calculator for the math). Just wondering if you know anything about how difficult it is to get in? I've read they take about 30 people who are 2nd degree seekers so I'm hoping to get in but I have no courses through UMHB.

I got all B's in my sciences. I already have a bachelors of science in physiology, I've taken patho, and intro to nursing at UTA because I also applied to their program as well and my overall gpa is a 3.3 and I scored a 78 on the Kaplan, from what I've read and heard UMHB isn't hard to get into.
I know some people at UMHB who I attend with that got C's and didn't make the cut. Since they are unable to see your (Fall 2016) grades before you transfer in ( for a Spring 2016 start date), depending on who is applying for the Spring semester, it may be difficult. Unfortunately, there is no way to know. But what you can do is prep for the Kaplan. Before I came in, (after having to take pre-req's that weren't required for my B.S. in Biology,) the Dean of Nursing, told me to get all A's in the rest of my classes so that would increase my chances of getting in. The lowest grade I had was a B- in General Chemistry. I got straight A's in every other single course I took at UMHB. I knocked the Kaplan out the park, and I don't feel that the study guide was indicative of what is actually on the exam. Reviewing A&P would be a nice start as well as the reading comprehension on the Kaplan Study guide and finding sites with basic grammar/sentence placement or replacement would help as well. Good luck! And hopefully I'll see you around!
