UMDNJ ABSN program Fall 2013

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member trying to get information about the UMDNJ ABSN program and thought the best and most accurate information would come from fellow students who have already successfully applied to the program.

I am currently taking the one prerequisite I need before I can apply (Anatomy & Physiology II) and recently attended an information session. One thing that left me with questions was about the 5 year rule on some of the classes (A & P I and II, Microbiology).

I am hoping that someone can clear my confusion on this. I graduated with a BS in Biology in May 2009. I took A & P I my last semester and am taking A & P II now. When it comes to Micro I took it Spring 2008. Now does that mean I am ok applying for Fall 2013? I tried emailing someone to ask with not much luck. Do you guys think it would be a problem and I should retake it? Anyone was or is now in the same boat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Hi guys listen

The teas are given on a specific day last semester it was not the same day as orientation.

The schedule as long as there are no changes tues- thurs depending on your clinical day. Depending on how you do on the teas you may have to do something like a writing help course on Mondays.

As for the transportation there is a shuttle that leaves from Newark's Penn.station around every 20 min.

Get organized!

If you are a person who puts things off. You may want to change that now.

There is lots and lots and lots of reading.

Sorry - schedule is from tues- Friday depending on clinical days.

You will be sent a email about the teas. The teas study guide is a great help. Classes are blocked registered. As someone said before get medical in because they will not let you start clinical/ classes without it and they will constantly send you mails about it.

Thank you DEZZIE, I was wondering about the schedule and you just answered it.

DEZZIE, are the Clinicals included in the tues-thurs schedule? Are Mondays study days? And also, what are the class times like?

Plz keep in mind this is if everything stays the same.

Clinical's r wed- fri. Monday is technically not a class day but you will be studying. Classes range from 8am-4 on some days. The work shops for writing and stuff are Monday evenings. If you have ever been in the service - remember boot camp that first day - that is nursing school. This is no joke. But seriously guys plz keep in mind things can change. If you are not good at math no worries get the med math book n hit it and hit it hard. And if you still have issues get a tutor or a group. There is assistance but try to start now if you can.

Keep in mind clinically are broken up into groups. That's why it depends on your day and time.

DEZZIE, thanks so much, this has answered a lot of my questions.

Hi, did anyone receive any information about the TEAS yet? I tried calling enrollment services many times and tried emailing but have not had any luck so far. I am a bit concerned as I will be overseas for 2 weeks and will be back the day before orientation. I don't want to miss it, does anyone know if it is not during orientation is it before or after? can we reschedule if needed?... thanks...

Glad I can help. @ Tammuz contact the office and inform them you may be out of town. They maybe able to work out something with you.

Hi everyone, I received an email for Stratford campus orientation and NALC info but still no date for TEAS test. I called and wasn't able to get an answer either. Does anyone know the date for TEAS test?
