UMDNJ ABSN program Fall 2013

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member trying to get information about the UMDNJ ABSN program and thought the best and most accurate information would come from fellow students who have already successfully applied to the program.

I am currently taking the one prerequisite I need before I can apply (Anatomy & Physiology II) and recently attended an information session. One thing that left me with questions was about the 5 year rule on some of the classes (A & P I and II, Microbiology).

I am hoping that someone can clear my confusion on this. I graduated with a BS in Biology in May 2009. I took A & P I my last semester and am taking A & P II now. When it comes to Micro I took it Spring 2008. Now does that mean I am ok applying for Fall 2013? I tried emailing someone to ask with not much luck. Do you guys think it would be a problem and I should retake it? Anyone was or is now in the same boat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Congrats!! How long did it take for them to send you the ID after you mailed in the check?

hello! I got accepted to newark too! :) I'm planning on sending out my check & background paperwork soon! Do you guys know when will NALC class take place? Also do any of you planning on leaving on campus or off campus? :)

I received an email with my ID within two days of mailing my check. I will be living off campus about 15-20 minutes away, so the commute shouldn't be too bad. As far as NALC and TEAS I haven't received any information. I am currently trying to get all health forms in order so I could send them in soon.

oh thanks temmuz for your response! Do we need a car for clinicals or is transportation well organized in newark area? so all we have to do is send in $300.00 & background check paperwork and get the medical stuff done before starting our program. right? :)

You should send the deposit and background check as soon as you can before the deadline and then work on the medical forms and yes that has to be done before start of classes. As far as transportation, I would assume public transit can be used easily within newark but then again it would really depend where the clinicals are. I guess all otherinfo will be given during orientation. Are you going to live on campus?

Has anyone received anything about their class schedule? I saw the general schedule on their website but have not received anything personally. I have called enrollment services several times, but they tell me I can register under Banner Services. I thought we don't need to register? I thought registrar automatically block scheduled us.

NALC is definitely still happening, but they're still trying to work out the dates as to when so nothing is confirmed on that. Last year's PDF that is provided on the website states that the TEAS have to be taken before this pre-program starts, but that hasn't been confirmed. Still working on figuring that out.

Congrats! I currently live off campus, but about 15 minutes from school as well so I'm going to commute. I did hear that the train is either free and/or discounted for students though.

thanks for the info! I just sent in my deposit + background form today! I'm not sure if i should live on campus or off campus! Is anyone thinking about living on campus? BTW, I'm excited to meet you guys all! :)

thanks ma1087! It was about a week and a half after I sent the deposit check and the background forms that I received the email.

I'm so excited to meet everyone! I've been feeling out of the loop with the NALC and TEAS also so I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I too, am curious about the class schedule but have found nothing about it besides last years. They do say that we are automatically registered so I'm hoping by orientation it's all figured out.

Hang in there Newark Students! I received an email about the NALC program not too long after I sent in my security deposit. It has to be any day now that your class will receive an email about it as well. They're probably just working on dates. I'm attending the Stratford campus, and, I too, have not heard anything about the TEAS. I have a feeling they might make us take it at orientation since orientation is mandatory.

That's what I also thought, everyone will be at orientation so might as well also take the TEAS then.
