After following the Fall '09 thread with great interest, I thought it might be time to start a new thread for the Spring '10 applicants since we're inching closer to the Sep 1 deadline. I have a technical question for those who have applied before. I submitted my CNL application online this morning and paid the $50 and now it seems like my application has slipped into a vortex that I don't have access to. When I log onto SURFS to check my status, the only option that it gives me is to submit a new application. Is there somewhere else on the website that I should be looking to confirm that my application has been submitted and is pending review or awaiting additional information (transcripts, recommendations, etc)? Perhaps there is a delay between when the application is submitted and when the status is visible?
Best of luck to all the other applicants...now the agonizing waiting game begins! Looking forward to giving each other support and encouragement on this thread.
congrat for everyone got message from umb:yeah:but why my status is still committee ready? becuase I am rejected?
I am so sad
i doubt it. im sure they are still processing. mine was commitee ready this morning. it changed sometime late in the afternoon and i never got a call. so keep checking!!!!
deerpark..don't worry about it until you hear. I know it's hard but quite honestly it's not mechanical and they don't make decisions all at once, even though we like to think they sit down and come up with a list and let us know that day (obviously we've found that's not how it works :)). I think apps are broken down and sifted through from top to bottom. Committee did not leave apps in piles since Sept 1...believe me. I'm sure they were organized or something over the past few months. They might rule some out right away and keep a few possibilities after others have been accepted. Fact is, we don't know how it works--what anything means, or the order they go in...ya just know when ya know.
You'll have a definite answer by Turkey day so no worries. Everything always works out the way it should. Congrats guys! :)
Hello!!
I'm new to this because I'm not so good with computers, but I have been reading this thread for what seems like ages! Grey Lady: you are absolutely 100% amazing with answering all of these questions, and everyone else: thanks for asking the questions because usually I have the same ones :) Anyways, my status changed to Provisional-Admit early today and I'm afraid to get too excited because I don't know what that means!!! AHHH! Congrats to all the BSN and CNL applicants who have gotten in! Wish you the best of luckkkk!!
I am graduating Dec 2010. Whenever I get anything from UMB they list me as being from the class of 2010. Amongst ourselves we are usually called "The December Graduates".
Congratulations to everyone who is in. For those who are still committee ready and feel they met the criteria, don't lose hope even if you don't end up making the initial cut and end up being wait listed. Some people who are admitted for one reason or another end up not coming. If I am not mistaken someone that started with me last year got in right before orientation started. The bottom line is once you are in you are in and everyone starts off on even footing. Those grades you have made to this point - good or bad - as far as UMB goes, are counted as credits only. Your GPA will only reflect the grades you earn at UMB.
Nursing classes and nursing school are radically different from anything you have experienced to date. One of the harder parts of this process is now behind you, so try your best to fully enjoy the 8 weeks you have remaining. A few months from now you will be seem more like a stranger to your family and friends - it happens faster than you can imagine.
Happy Thanksgiving to all - JR
