UMass Medical School GEP DNP 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else applied to the UMass Worcester GEP DNP program? Let’s discuss! Thanks ?

I did too! The interviews go through February though. It looks like they filled up quickly. The earliest time when I looked was February 5th, so that's what I signed up for.

How are you preparing for the interview? I don't even know where to start...

A current student posted this on last year's thread, so I think I will prepare based off of this!

1.) why do you want to be in this program (and sub track) at UMass? Why not MGH or MCPHS?

2.) What experiences made you prepared for this experience (it is rather intense)? How are you disciplined?

3.) (the tricky one) Have you ever not done well in a particular course or assignment and what did you do to overcome this? Explain with examples on your ability to be resilient or overcome adversity in an academic setting.

4.) Research your interview members before hand and integrate it into your interview. For example, I noticed that my interviewers published an article on getting jobs post graduation. I asked them to explain this article in a way it was relevant to my question (Do GEP/NP students get jobs easily?)

5.) Know a potential DNP topic of interest. Mine was working with Veterans in an acute care setting. It shows that you are thinking long-term and know what might interest you (fully knowing that could change).

6.) Lastly, I’ll include to think about your support systems and how you will utilize them. An example would be peers if you start to struggle (many do) or going to the professor for study strategies.

Has anyone interviewed yet? My interview is scheduled for this coming Thursday for the FNP track. What tracks did you all apply to?

I applied a couple days before the deadline and haven't heard back yet. Looks like interview invites were already sent out? Should I assume the worst?

Same. I haven’t heard anything either. UMass is my top and I had to put a deposit down elsewhere in case I don’t get in. Starting to get discouraged….

Honestly, getting into another school should make you worthy of at least interview at UMass so hopefully they're doing things on a rolling basis. I applied PMHNP. Congratulations on your acceptance!

I wouldn't worry yet, I just heard yesterday about an interview and scheduled it for Thursday. Some people heard on Friday. Keep thinking positive! Congrats on your acceptance that is wonderful

Wow that’s awesome. Did you submit your app in November?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned here before but does anybody know the interview is in person or zoom?

I also submitted my application wicked early, like in early October way before the deadline which may have been a factor of hearing early about an interview.

Thanks for answering my questions! Good for you for getting everything in early. I keep forgetting that they opened the applications in August.

I believe they look at the applications based on the date you applied, so I'd still be hopeful if you applied later! I applied in early October too and heard on Friday for my interview. Applied for the PMHNP track!
