UMass Boston Summer 2021 ABSN

Hi everyone! 

I've applied to UMass Boston's ABSN program for the Summer 2021 cycle. Has anyone else? I feel applications are going to be sporifice this cycle!

I'm still waiting on email/portal update. will be refreshing every 2 minutes ?

Im external, and I didn’t get an email, the portal just got updated.

I was accepted! I didn't get the email until this morning but my portal was updated last night.

Does anyone know someone in the program? I want to ask about their experience with this ABSN program since it’s primary online. Or if anyone has any information with the online learning experience.

Hi guys, I’m from Cali and don’t know a single soul in Mass. Anyone looking for housing? Any suggestions on the neighborhoods? Thank you so much!!

Neighborhoods are kind of hard to judge. I have friends who have lived in most parts of Boston, and even within the same neighborhood the feel can change as soon as you cross the street. I loved Somerville, but parts of it were super industrial and loud, and parts of it by the Orange line were built up with no trees. Being close to a T station (especially Red Line) will cost more, but also be super convenient. Southie (South Boston), JP (Jamaica Plain), Roxbury, and Dorchester are all nearby. All of them have good areas and areas that you might not like as much. 

Another thought: Google Street view is something I've used to scope out apartments before I decide which to see in person. Might be worth doing that and also seeing what else is around your apartment. 

I live in CT, and my long-term gf is a doctor in a fellowship program here, so I plan on mostly staying here and finding some way to crash up in Boston for clinicals or when I need to go to campus. If anyone is open to a room share with a roommate who is gone half the time, let me know. I'm open to all neighborhoods.

I currently live on Revere Beach and work downtown at a hospital and the commute is very easy.  I've also lived in Everett and Cambridge - Cambridge was by far the most expensive but easier commute.  Everett and Revere have some nicer parts but also some not so nice parts so I definitely agree with @ryanc11 with checking out Google street view and looking at the surrounding Boston areas.  If anyone needing to relocate has any area related questions or wants to discuss I am more than happy to connect and share my insight!

hey guys, another question. So for the clinicals, is it random? or they will place you based on where you live?
