umass boston nursing fall 2015

Published

Hello everyone! I have applied to Umass boston nursing school last month . Now everything is completed except I need to take the teas V exam (which I am taking next week) and I would also like to know if anyone out there took the teas at Umass boston and also if you applied for fall 2015 since the deadline was december 1.

Hey, sorry took so long to get back to you! So you have to email them back saying you accept the acceptance haha. Then they will email you with a date. As of now they haven't picked a date though.

I just got my acceptance letter today!! I transferred from EHS with 70 credits and a GPA of 3.5. My TEAS score is overall 84%. I currently need the core nursing classes (15) to graduate. I'm so pumped! Congrats to everyone on your acceptance!

Hey, congrats on your acceptance! I can't wait either! Let me know if you get an email about orientation, I haven't seen one yet.

For those that have been accepted, did you have any volunteer hours or extra curriculars? Do you know if those types of things are reviewed during the application process?

So I didn't have any volunteer hours or extra curriculars. What I was told when I attended an info seminar was that they were really looking for people who have a pretty strong science background. They reiterated that several times. They want to see that you can do well in your science classes, and that includes the science portion of the TEAS. They really didn't even mention anything about volunteer hours, although I don't think having them would hurt.

Oh, and the director actually told me (I talked to her after the seminar) that even if you started off fairly bad but then picked up your grades as you went along they won't hold it against you. They really like to see people learn and improve, they're not looking for people who have "perfect" academic records (although I'm sure they wouldn't turn you away if you did lol). They are looking for people who learn from their mistakes and succeed. They want to make nurses, hard working and dedicated nurses.

Thank you, that was helpful!

Just signed up for the 4/24 orientation! :cat::nurse:

Is that the "advising" orientation or the clinical orientation?!

@emilynicholson its the transfer student orientation to pick classes so im assuming its the advising orientation. From what I was reading each clinical course has its own orientation in the first week of the semester? Please correct me if I am wrong!

No problem!:) @emyaj
