If you're a US citizen then you wouldn't need any sponsorship. You'd be just like everybody else here. However, I suggest you stay in the UK no matter how disenchanted with it you are. Everything here costs an arm and a leg, be prepared to pay thousands of dollars (probably more like tens of thousands) JUST for tuition and possibly going into so much debt that you become a one-person Greece. If you insist on coming, stay where you are for a while so that you can work and enough save money to come, then find a community college here where you'd like to go and move to the county where it's located.
