UIC nursing school

Published

Okay so i am applying to the BSN program at UIC 2015. I am so worried because i have no idea what to expect. It is one of the top nursing schools in the country. I am literally freaking out because i am competing for one of the 90 spots. My Cum GPA is 3.89 and science GPA is 4.0 and I graduated out of high school a year early (at the age 16). i am currently 18 years old. I finished most of my pre-reqs at a community college because its cheaper, I also finished my essay questions but i am worried that its not good enough. I volunteer at my local hospital for over a few months and i know that nursing is what I want to do.

Can someone please tell me if I have a good chance of getting in? Getting into UIC is my dream goal. Is my GPA good? Is there anything that i can do to improve my chances of getting in?

I am applying sometime next week.

Yes, when I talked to one of the councilors at UIC she told me that there was a possibility that I got accepted to the Urbana campus even though I applied for Chicago. Congrats!

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum but obviously I'm not the only one feeling the pressure of the waiting game... I didn't get an email either, in my inbox or spam. My application status still says "Referred to college for review"... This is killing me!

Mine says the same thing!
Mine says the same thing!

So does mine

Refreshing every two minutes now.

This is getting crazy!

Any updates anyone?

Sadly for me, but I just find out I am denied! ...I did not received any e-mail or mail, but I checked in the application website!...

For those who wonder, my GPA was 3.65, I have a CNA, volunter work, and speak both languajes!...I don't know exactly what they are looking for!.

I still waiting for the other places that I applied. Including Saint Xavier, RSu, and the City Colleges. I dont want to go out of the city. Seens that UIC was no meant to be for me! I really believe in God and he has a purpose for everyone. I let things in his hands. It is not the end of my dreams, I will keep going studying there are several more schools. I feel a litle disapoinent for all the effort that I done to do great essays, ask to my references to write great letters for me. etc. Well, it is done, I have to move on! I start to think that it is a lotery!

For those who also wonder, in the essay my priority was study for the nutrition exam, and at the very end go for a run!

Good luck again!

Ugh... Sorry to hear that. It seems you had a good chance of getting in, but they probably have different criteria than what we expect. What did your application status say exactly?

Hi jkel0912,

It say "Deny." And I just called them to ask the exact reason why, just to learn from the experience in case I have another interview. But, they say they dont keep track of the specific reason, because there are so many applicants. They also say that they usually recomend to the students to apply to different programs and do not relay in just one place (specially for nursing that is so competitive). I ask if I will receive an e-mail to actually confirm that I was denied, and they say that the students who are deny WILL NOT receive an email, it will be a letter in the mail what they will received, and it can be arrive in the next few days to your house. They say the GPA average this year was around 3. 6. But, they take in consideration many things beside the GPA, some people with high GPA were denied because they did not did well in the interview etc. Like as said before if it is meant to be for you, it will be not matter what. I truly wish you good luck in the lotery process! I will recomend to check the website, and do not keep going waitting for an e-mail.

Thank you. I'm thinking I probably got denied too, because I have not received an email. And how long could it possibly take an email that was sent hours ago to reach one's inbox? My application status is the same... Arlene1, I hope you get in one of the other schools, or in all of them!

I have not received anything either and my application is still the same....I hope the best for everyone!
